Kids Eat Free
Kids Eat Free is a campaign put together by the businesses of Leigh in order to help families over Christmas.

The offer will run over the Christmas school holidays, from 17th December 2022 to 4th January 2023 and includes local businesses such as Lilac Lounge, Cafe Central and Bradshawgate Cafe as well as national chains.
In September, Leigh Means Business received funding from a “Dragon’s Den” event held by the Leigh Rotary Club. They used the funding to build the Kids Eat Free mini site and promote the offer throughout the town.
They gathered support from various local businesses such as Jacobi, Leigh Works, Nemiah, The Good Estate Agent and Collins and Darwell who have all helped manage the project, create the website and spread the word.

Local software company Nemiah, based at Leigh Works, developed the system with the help of local students from Wigan and Leigh College.
As part of his T-level work placement, Max has been helping with the creation of the leigh.town website and was able to use the experience gained at Nemiah in his Computer Science course.
Jason, a Content Creation Apprentice at Leigh Works, has also been working on the Kids Eat Free campaign. Jason has been responsible for producing the graphics and promotional material for the campaign as well as managing social media posts.
Steven Tomlinson, founder of Nemiah, says: “It is brilliant to see everyone working together to make this happen. This project doesn't just benefit families in need, but it also helps our struggling local businesses and has been a great experience for the talented young people in our town. A lot of the eateries in Leigh were already offering free meals so it’s been great to shine a light on the amazing work already being done by our business community.”
With the cost-of-living crisis making basic living more difficult, Leigh Means Business has managed to find a practical way of supporting its community, with the hopes that this campaign will encourage people to come back to the high street in Leigh whilst also supporting their local businesses through Kids Eat Free deals.
