Once a beacon of convenience and affordability, McDonald's has devolved into a frustrating caricature of its former self. What was once a reliable go-to for a quick, cheap bite has become a bewildering labyrinth of broken promises, declining quality, and ever-inflating prices that mock its "fast food" origins. Let's start with the most egregious offense: the mythical "24-hour" McDonald's. These establishments, often advertised with glowing signs promising round-the-clock service, are a cruel joke played on the unsuspecting public. You roll up, weary and hungry in the dead of night, only to find employees milling about inside, lights on, and yet... an impenetrable barrier. "We're cleaning," "Our systems are down," "Just closed for a few minutes" – the excuses are as plentiful as the grease stains on their uniforms. Why advertise 24 hours if you consistently fail to deliver? It's a fundamental breach of trust that leaves customers fuming and their stomachs grumbling. This lack of transparency extends beyond the 24-hour farce. How many times have you entered the drive-thru lane, patiently snaking your way through the queue, only to reach the speaker and be informed that a crucial service – perhaps the drive-thru itself, or even the entire kitchen – is unexpectedly closed? There are no signs, no warnings, just a sudden, jarring halt to your plans and a colossal waste of your valuable time. This deliberate obfuscation is not just inconvenient; it's disrespectful to the customer. But perhaps the most galling aspect of the modern McDonald's experience is the alarming disconnect between its escalating prices and plummeting food quality. The days of genuinely cheap and cheerful sustenance are long gone. What was once a budget-friendly staple has steadily crept into the price territory of casual dining, all while the food itself seems to have taken a dramatic nosedive. Burgers arrive lukewarm and shriveled, fries are often limp and oversalted, and the once-iconic Big Mac feels like a shadow of its former glory. Paying restaurant-level prices for food that barely registers as palatable is an insult to the palate and the wallet. McDonald's, you've lost your way. You're no longer the dependable, affordable institution you once were. You're a frustrating exercise in dashed expectations, hidden closures, and increasingly expensive, decreasingly appetizing fare. It's time to either deliver on your promises or rebrand yourselves as what you've become: a mediocre, overpriced, and often unavailable purveyor of fast food that's anything but fast or good.

1 year agoFood was hot and up to standard. However we were waiting in the drive thru for a longer than usual period of time and weren’t spoken to once by the person handing food over (wearing a white shirt so managerial). Also got home to find that the large cappuccino I’d paid extra for, as it was an upgrade in my meal, was half full. Not what you expect when you’re paying money for food and a service.

1 year agoNot once have we been here and not been asked to park up and wait for food. We order a double cheeseburger meal and a nugget happy meal, no alterations so why? Never serve customers in order at drive through, never have milkshakes service is shocking. Use the one at asda!

1 year agoWhenever I order from this McDonald’s there is always something missing! It’s ridiculous now. I’ve had to report missing items so many times on uber eats they don’t even take the reports now because they think it’s a scam. Today for instance, not only was some things missing, the food was cold af and burnt!

1 year agoMcdonalds are what they are, this is one of the better ones. Prompt service and hot fresh food. The downstairs dining area was busy, but there was plenty of seating upstairs, which was clean and tidy. The condiment stations were organised too, which is a rarity nowadays. Overall a pleasant experience.

1 year agoThing is with Maccies they look great on the advertising pictures but when you open you triple cheese burger I'm sure someone has either stepped on it or used it as a door wedge. Looked horrendous.

1 year agoMissed items a few times. Wait times can be ridiculous. Staff interaction is more rude than not. Only drive thru branch in the area otherwise I’d boycott completely considering there’s 2 more branches in close proximity but when you got a baby it’s a little better for the convenience.

1 year agoI had such a pleasant experience in this branch, which is rare for a McDonald’s. The food was lovely, hot and fresh - we did have to wait a bit but you don’t mind when it’s good. All staff I came across were lovely and friendly, seemed to be a lovely environment. Cleanest McDonald’s I’ve have seen in a long time.

1 year agoOrdered a muffin meal to eat in and waited over 20 minutes for it ...no table service so had to stand there waiting.. woman serving was shuffling around on crutches and obviously couldn't cope... there were about 15 of us all waiting for food and all complaining.. One of the worst mcdonalds I have ever been !!! Avoid !!!

1 year agoYou just never know what they have messed up when you open your mcd's bag but this one was hilarious 😂 think someone is putting the burgers together blindfolded. Chips shoukd be fresh and was stale at 11.30am

1 year agoSpicy burger was nice. Went through the drive through but no food ready. Told to wait in the car park, the attendant/server came out and gave our food to a different car. The person in the other car had to take the food back and we had to go and ask if it was for us. It had the car reg on the receipt!!!!!

1 year agoAlways seems to be an excuse to close it at night even though it's a "24 Hour" branch. "System update" , "cleaning the grills" , "setting up for breakfast" Every time I've been its always a different exuse and never open. Very poor. I'd drive an extra bit and go to stonecross or Tyldesley rather than waste my time here.

1 year agoAbsolute abomination. Got a McRib and a Mcflurry. The McFlurry had caramel sauce all over the outside so now everything in my car is sticky. The McRib, they put the BBQ sauce on that from a distance and mainly on the outside of the burger. I won't be returning here again. Worst McDonald's ever

1 year agoTypical McDonald's with Drive thru. Nothing fancy, this location can be very busy during the usual peak times, dinner, tea and weekends. The staff are average not overly friendly. Overall it's a good fast food chain location in the retail park.

1 year agoI'm afraid this branch is a bit of a letdown as McDonald's go. The branch seems more concerned with looking after the UberEats/JustEats orders much to the detriment of inbranch customers. This manifests itself in slow order completion. The staff in fairness are pleasant and the place clean. The food is adequate mostly but our order was short of two items. It's two floors provide lots of seats and the toilets were clean. It summing the branch is suffering somewhat by the increase in online ordering services and could really do with addressing this.

1 year agoThe Twix coffee had obviously been standing a bit before we got it as the cream had gone. The burger also looked like it had been thrown together. The floor staff was fabulous though. There is also good access for wheel chairs with a lift to the first floor.

1 year agoQueded for 15 minutes on the drive through was told at the intercom another 15 minute wait on food with no explanation. Went to place my order at the first window, no Philli Cheese stack available as ran out of the sauce. It's only just come on promotion, talk about poor organisation from management, stuck in the drive through queue waiting to exit empty handed, joke!

1 year agoThanks for the food poisoning never ever again!! Waited 35 minutes for a meal every single worker in there needs sacking loads of little kids with no hygiene rules. I eat from here yesterday took soo long for food everyone bringing food back all the workers are spotty and filthy. Anyway 12 hour after eating this McDonald’s and I am servilely sick today when I say it needs shutting down it really does. You lot are being reported to food standards.

2 years agoI genuinely wonder sometimes if the employment criteria for McDonalds restaurants requires an IQ lower than room temperature. It’s just mind boggling how on every single order you make they are completely and utterly incapable of reading a simple list, ensuring all items are present and assembling the sandwiches with a little care. Really seems to be impossible. And when you complain you barely get an apology and it’s like you’ve bothered them. We have decided we won’t be returning to any of the Maccies in the area, rather order from other more capable restaurants!

2 years agoFood for breakfast this morning was absolutely shocking. The sausage and egg McMuffins were literally thrown together far too greasy, the muffin was that drenched it was falling apart and the whole thing looked like it had been dug out of a bin. Absolutely disgusted at the lack of quality, waste of money and the staff at this branch always seem to have an issue with making quality food. Its really unfair given the money spent on 4 breakfast meals

2 years agoMcDonald’s is McDonalds. Food is average at best, but what’s in decline is service. Constant wrong orders at the drive through, cold food, especially the fries. This McD’s was no different than all the others. No I had the pleasure of a Wendy’s the other day. OMG. 6/5 stars

2 years agoShocking service as always. Girl taking order on the drive-thru extremely rude, likely dragged up not being taught basic manners and communication skills. Food cold and chips brown. Will go to Tyldesley next time. Far better.

2 years agoWent through the drive thru and was asked to wait as food wasn't ready. After a 15 minute wait the food was brought out to the car and was stone cold. Went into the restaurant and spoke to the manager who was less than useless. Got my money back but no apology or explanation. Needless to say will not be going back!!!!!

2 years agoVery dirty, Food smashed up, keep you waiting for 25mins when there are hardly any other customers in and the staff are so unprofessional. I get it's your first job and your not that bothered about professionalism and I'll you want is some money in your pocket but I guarantee arguing with customers and having a snotty attitude is never a good idea.

2 years agoAbsolutely terrible service, just been in to the parsonage maccys, ordered food for a kids party. After waiting 40 minutes in the queue, our order flashed up to collect. But then disappeared, when after 5 minutes, I asked the staff what was going on they said it's just being bagged up 15 minutes later , they shouted my number, at this point I asked for the details to make a complaint, Once home I discovered there was 2 meals missing the milkshakes where like water as they had been left standing whilst they were waiting for the rest of the food to be cooked I phoned the store and spoke to the manager, he said bring the food back, I said I had handed it out to the kids, but obviously there wasn't enough food to go around, He was quite arrogant and cocky, saying I have follow the policy I explained they had ruined a kids birthday party due to their incompatence, I said why should I have to go to them lengths ? He said I'm going to put the phone down because you're getting angry, what did he expect? so basically, we lost £15 on meals because they would not refund the missing meals Absolutely disgrace of a manager, organised bedlum, Not fit to be a manager, When we were waiting he was just stood around waiting to take orders to waiting cars I actually went to this Maccys on a weekly basis but,no more I will be writung to head office. So arrogant !!!!

2 years agoWorst McDonald's in the area. An hour later order still not arrived. Got a call saying its been delivered. It wasn't. They refuse to send order out again. Pass the buck to uber.my money was taken by mcd not uber. Now I've got join a call que at uber to get my money back. Never have this problem with the Bradshaw gate branch. Had numerous problems with this one. If you can only deliver stone cold food and not on time or not at all. Then don't bother.

2 years agoI drive for a living and as a result of this, I tend to spend alot of time in places where fast food is served. That being said, this particular McDonald's was pleasant, and the service was with a smile, however due to the nature of where this is situated, it was atmospherically lack lustre. That doesn't take away the experience of going to McDonald's, but because of the nature of this business, people don't tend to stay around very long, and that means that the atmosphere doesn't get to higher places. At this particular time, it was okay. Prices have certainly gone up in the last year, and their menu doesn't change much, but good for family get togethers nevertheless.

2 years agoMcDonalds is McDonalds everyone know what you get, the app is very good. I'm an extreme bargain hunter so find the medium & large meal deal a bit expensive but if you fill in a survey using your receipt you can get a burger & fries for £1.99

2 years agoNEVER get orders right. It's like they give you the wrong stuff on purpose! Ordered a chicken big mac, no cheese, got home to a regular big mac with no cheese inside of a chicken big mac box, and then to add insult to injury, asked for curry sauce and they gave me sweet and sour. Its really annoyed me because I can't take it back as my kids have now sat down to eat

2 years agoIf you go at lunch time you'll have no issues. If you've finished a long shift and go after work between 6p till closing then don't bother... your food will either be cold, stale or you just won't get any at all if you get it delivered.

2 years agoVery good restaurant that sells burgers, chicken, fish and more. Only disappointment was I have since found out you can get a toy if you order a happy meal! Incredibly cool! Unfortunately I didn't order the happy meal as I didn't understand what it was, I thought you had to be happy to have one and I was upset the day I came here as my wife came back from her holiday, I enjoyed 1 week of peace.

2 years agoMcDonald's has been the epitome of cheap fast food items and this branch of Leigh is no different. Relatively less crowded, clean, and quickly served food gave me a great start to the day. You can pass more time and work on your laptop or study even and no one will bother you. Overall, a pleasant experience and highly recommended.

2 years agoI've seen some awful reviews about this McDs but we've always had kind and friendly service. It's an easy place to stop for a break (being a whisker off junction 13 M6) quick snack and loo rather than the service stations, plus I prefer McD coffee to most other kinds. 2 years agoOrdered at drive thru around 4.40am fish fillet meal after a night shift. Around 10 mins sat at drive thru looks like just one fat guy doing drive thru orders and making them all. Fish fillet breading all burnt and crumbling off soaked in oil. Was going to go back to him to complain had a que at the drive thru. DISGUSTING

3 years agoOne of the slowest fast food ever seen. Order was take 25 minut not in pick time. Manager and staff very funny people's with so many jokes to say. Customers waiting over 20 minutes for service when Drive was served as priority. Don't use this one again..

3 years agoDreadful from start to finish. Card machine not working on self serve machines so had to wait ages for someone to serve me. Place was full of flies, crawling over all surfaces. Food took 15 mins to be made, by which time some of the rest of our order was cold. They seem more bothered about fulfilling the deliveries than people in the 'restaurant'. We got a refund and left.

3 years agoCame here before going to the cinema and my God, I've never seen a more unorganized McDonalds in my life. Stood and waited 30 minutes for 2 meals for them to be stone cold, even the coffee. The front staff were working like snails, zero energy, zero care. The massive pile of food just sat waiting on the pass was utterly ridiculous.

3 years agoOnly open 24 hours for drive-thru with nothing nowhere to tell you that, besides a note on the door. I work nights, and don't have a car, so you can imagine my disappointment when walking there at the dead of night only to find out that I can't even enter the place.

3 years agoSat there at the ordering point for 15 minutes and totally ignored by 5 people/staff walking around like what could only be described as compleate and utter zombies and also on mobile phones etc. After being ignored i placed an order through the McDonald's app before the main menu time was swapped over to breakfast and was informed I couldn't have it! They also said my items/order have been collected and I've been charged for waiting and being ignored for 20 minutes and after leaving with nothing!!!!! Worse McDonald's in the u.k and your staff are completely incompetent ignorant and incapable. Avoid like the plague this place is the pits

3 years agoFirst time at this place as attending a football match down the road and even though it was quiet at the time service was slow our order arrived with cold (hot) drinks and a drink missing this was dealt with pretty quick. As we sat there it got busy as the game. We would use again

3 years agoStarting to get the same feeling everyone else has been talking about. Waiting ages at midnight for an order, sitting in the car awkwardly next to a homeless person under the service window. Get home to find the chips are soggy and cold and items missing! How do you mess an order up at such a quiet time and shouldn't everything be cooked fresh?! Disgusting and disappointing.

3 years agoGood food had to wait a while in the car, but i went during the busiest period. Atmosphere outside, carpark full of drug users not mcdonalds fault but wait with your Windows and doors locked.

3 years agoIf I could give 0 stars I would. Only received drinks and 1 fries from our order. Missing entire meals, 20 nuggets and several burgers. Absolutely ridiculous! Unfortunately ordered via just eat so have to try and get a refund via them which takes days. Isn't the first time items have been missing from orders so definitely wont be using this particular one again. It's not rocket science to cook and pack an order correctly....I should know, I worked in a maccies in my youth it's the easiest job in the world!!! Whoever is hiring these people really need to train their staff better or hire people with more than 1 brain cell. Cheers.

3 years agoStaff who argue the toss about what you've ordered and paid for at the drive through. I quote the utter dipstick at the food collection window: "I don't know why you're arguing" - simple really, your staff say I've not ordered something I've paid for despite it being right there in black and white on the receipt. Learn some basic customer service skills.

3 years agoFood is not great here. Slap dash burgers. Half the ingredients are usually falling out when you open it. Sometimes a long wait. Understaffed. Beggers sat near the drive through windows so can be quite unsettling. I dont go here anymore to be honest. I go to another one at Stone Cross which is much nicer.

3 years agoTwice now Iv ordered a Large Late from here through my App and it was a large cup and I kid you not less than half full it’s clearly obvious it’s a tiny amount but both times Iv been driving and only noticed when Iv got to my destination?you can’t say you miss heard me as I do it on my App and also why put it in a large cup so why why do it ?♂️?♂️Your a multi million pound buisiness with supposedly high on specs and any idiot can see it’s a tiny amount of drink in there ???

Food is that bad I felt like going bad and give in them a good hide in, burger was stone cold freezing and the chips was cooked then re heated at at least 3 times as ther was no potatoe inside and was all burnt on out side Wow I’ve never been to a worse McDonald’s in my life!!!!

3 years agoWe arrived here as normal ( Mcdonalds ) and ofcourse it's mcdonalds. We came at around half 12 ( 12:30 ) and it wasn't very busy. Staff were amazing! Really helpful and actually produced food presently. Food was fresh and hot. Not like normal. It was probably the best Mcdonalds I've ever been too. 2 floor and was cleaned. And the staff and service were lovely ( 100% would go to ) maximum 1hr drive because there are lots of mcdonalds around. And closer to 1hr away.

3 years agoAfter a late night stargazing and meteor spotting, the 24 hour drive through was a great idea. We was greeted professionally and politely, order taken, payment made and food passed to us in less that 10 mins. The food was freshly made and piping hot. I generally dislike fries from McDonald's but my passenger loves them and made me try one, they were fantastic. Normally I experience the soggy ones that have been sat there for god knows how long but these were as fresh as you can get. After tasting one I wished I'd ordered a large portion. I always go big Mac when at McDonald's, I've seen ones that look like the leaning tower of Pisa, ones that seem like they have been thrown against the wall but this one, just like the photos on the menu and delicious. After driving for so long and getting hungry, the speed and quality of this food was just what we needed, the night shift are seriously impressive when it comes to giving you what you want from a good McDonald's experience. The only negative is that my passenger is an ex employee for McDonald's and told me they used the wrong onions, they are the kind I love so I wouldn't have complained. Give these guys some love coz they know what they are doing. It's gunna be my go to McDonald's from now I'm pretty sure.

3 years agoThis is my 3rd time of ordering from here and it's Also the third time my order has been wrong !!! So it's safe to say I will NEVER order from macdonalds via uber eats again. I have just received my 4 item order yes 4 items which I paid priority on. It took from 11.15PM to 11.52PM nearly 40 min (OK they might be mad busy everyone wanting frozen drinks) only to recieve my order to find 2 items were missing, 2 large frozen strawberry lemonade drinks. Its a joke so I complain to uber and have to wait for them to respond. I then phoned macdonalds to be told all I can say is we must of missed them on order I said what a 4 item order he said contact uber they will refund it. Ok but We are dying of thirst hence paying 8 quid for 2 drinks that DIDNT ARRIVE IM SO MAD seriously though missed half my order NOT AN EXCUSE ITS DISGUSTING!!!! THE STAFF EITHER THICK OR CARELESS check the orders for god sake

4 years agoPoor service at the drive through. They are quick to take the order and money though, slow to collect the food which has always been lukewarm. I ordered 2 cheesebrgers/2 fries which took 20 minutes to wait in the car queue ( 3rd in line ) Chips are limp too. It is best to go inside this McDonald's then you can complain and receive a hot meal instead of a lukewarm one.

4 years agoRecently used the drive thru. Admittedly busy so expected a wait but also expected to get the correct order! Twice i was handed the wrong drinks - 3rd time lucky. Got home with my order the Quarter Pounder box had a sticker on to remove chesse, as requested. However the burger inside had cheese on!

4 years agoFood is generally OK, service inside is good. 3 stars for me because of the frequent errors in drive thru order completion (especially when it comes to the specials, e.g. buying a double big Mac and getting a standard, or not getting fries in value meals). Plenty of parking ??

4 years agoAbsolutely amazing! cannot fault the service here. despite waiting for a while for my food people assured me that it wouldn’t be long giving me regular updates as to where my food was. I collected my order with hot fries however my coffee was cold. i spoke to a lovely male manager who only looked young and very tall called keon who assured me he would change it and when he returned it wasn’t the best but he offered me multiple options in what i could do next. i thanked him kindly for his help and managed to enjoy my food. As i was leaving i had a wonderful interaction with a crew member who i am assuming was on the dining area, she was only small with brown hair called caitlin. she was so kind and sweet and offered me lots of assistance throughout my stay. Smashing mcdonald’s with very good staff!

4 years agoOn Saturday the 2nd of April I and a group of friends all under the age of 18 went to McDonald’s on parsonage retail park where we and other groups of teenagers (under the age of 18) that were harmless and not doing anything wrong were forced to sit outside with our food. This is due to a verbal policy told to us by a member of staff which I cannot find on their website which stated all people under that age of 18 not accompanied by an adult cannot be permitted to eat inside of their restaurants and must take away their food. We were paying customers like anybody else in there and was not told about this “policy” until after we had ordered and paid. We were told that it was due to vandalism upstairs but yet we were still not allowed to sit downstairs monitored by staff. This policy was not stated before we arrived or before we had already paid for our food. The staff discriminated our age group and assumed that we were all vandals just because we are young. In no way shape or form were we different to anyone else apart from our age. We asked why and accepted their decision out of respect and instead we would like make this information available to the public so that this does not happen again..If they want to avoid vandalism they should offer indoor downstairs seating to people under the age of 18 that is monitored by staff. This idea would still be discriminative and wrong but more acceptable than forcing us to take our food outside and sit on the benches which were not cleaned and in the cold with no covering from the rain such as an umbrella. They advertise as an indoor eating restaurant for the public, and this wasn’t the case for us. I’m sure you can agree that this is wrong by the food chain giant and I am unaware if this applies anywhere else as I have never had this issue before. We were all utterly appalled by this decision and hope that this will show the restaurant that they were in the wrong so that nobody should face the horrible and awkward experience that we did.

4 years agoQuite often queues at drive through but always enjoy the food. Now that you can collect points and offers on the app as well it's even better.

4 years agoWent through the drive through was told to park up. There were also 13 other cars parked up. Finally after 20 mins wait I got the food home it was cold ( 5 min drive) and instead of 6 nuggets I only had 4!

4 years agoOnly gave it one star because you Cant give it zero. Waited 20minutes to be told none of my food was ready I asked how long? to be told they didn’t know and weren’t really arsed to be honest just to wait another 20. oh and the fries were like deep fried twigs they’d been cooked that long

4 years agoNever had a problem, however tonight, the attitude of the staff towards people waiting for the orders sat going cold was horrible, wouldn't have complained if it was a busy night but it wasn't, the staff was just stood joking around with each other while food went cold, one of them even laughed at the people in front of us for asking for their food. When we finally got our order, one bite of the burger and I threw it up, the sauce tasted disgusting, the onions was mush and after asking for no pickles they was still on the burger, all of it was clumped at the back of the bun. Beyond horrified.

4 years agoOrders are hardly every correct, milk shakes and mc flurrys are rare as rocking house poop also. Anything but fast food here, take a snack with you whilst you're waiting for your order and then double check it prior to moving!

4 years agoThe food from here is drastically gone down hill 9/10 times the fries are stone cold and brick hard the burgers look like they've been flung at wall before being put in bag if you ask for 1 extra dip feel like asked for the world it's just absolutely disgusting especially for the price. The staff all need reminding about customer service too as most of them don't even utter 1 word

4 years agoSign on drive through - No Hot Drinks, asked what drinks they have. Amongst the cold options he said Tea and Hot Chocolate. Sign was correct as I ordered 3 Hot Chocolates which weren't even tepid

5 years agoStandard McDonald’s food is often hot if you collect which is always good for McDonald’s food. If you have ever had it you know the quality and food type so I won’t go into it much. Mainly the most irritating part of this McDonald’s is you need to check your order I have been personally a few times and find they miss the odd item each time. You never end up going back for it and it’s just a waste of money. So have a good look in the bag before leaving. Other than this good McDonald’s overall

5 years agoFirst time and last time. It was horrendous. The queue was long but the actual problem is that nothing was ready and they tell you to park but no dedicated spaces for that. This means you're then waiting for them to find you and you get stuck in the parking space as it's next to the queue for the drive through. A delivery truck arrived and blocked half the road. Couldn't get out and after all that we got the wrong order. By the time we knew we were home. Just no organisation at all. They seem to have too much going on with the click and collect plus walk ins but drive through. They need more signage so it's clear where to go and stops the queue blocking everyone else in. We saw one guy nearly take another car out because he had been blocked in for so long. If the food had been right it may have helped but to go through all that and they can't even get your order right it's obviously too much for them. Plus soggy chips...no need

5 years agoNo fries in happy meal, had to queue in the drive through again.and when I went to the window to ask for the fries they missed out and a fresh burger as it was cold due to queuing again, I got a death stare from the staff and no apology. Won't come here again
