This place is proper rank...! not to say expensive. Made the mistake of stopping by for coffee & cake and got well rinsed...! Coffee was lukewarm and cake tasted like it had been retrieved from the dustbin. Staff appeared apathetic and demotivated, though friendly. I wouldn't recommend this place. Instead, try one of the cafes in the market around the corner. They seem much more reasonable.

3 years agoI ordard smashed avacardo on toast with poached agg which the avacardo had so much lemon it was disgusting the egg was hard. I get 2 crumpets for my son which were rock hard and he wouldn't eat them. All in all wasted money

3 years agoFabulous food. I tried ciabatta today which was filled with melt cheese and delicious mushroom. Banana milkshake was thinner than usual but I enjoyed it.

3 years agoWe have been visiting Caffe Dolce for a number of years for drinks and cakes, however today we thought we would try their food. The pancake stack was the flattest stack I have ever seen and the quality of the pancakes could have been better for the price we paid. The chicken on the ciabatta tasted like cheap packet chicken. It was very disappointing. On a positive note the coffee was very good and the staff are very pleasant. Glad they never asked us how are food was. Needless to say we won't be ordering food there again. Will stick to drinks and cakes.

3 years agoThe staff are lovely, so I cannot completely complain and my omelette was okay. However, paying 8 pound for a jacket potato coming hard is not good enough.

3 years agoThe service was nice and friendly, however the place really needs better cleaning practices I sat at table 14 near the door and it had old dirty marks on it! Which prompted me to look around and the attention to detail is non existent regarding cleaning! Then I visited the toilets the stairs leading up to the toilet are badly in need of a very deep clean, the corridor at the top of the stairs needs stripping and a refurbishment because it’s ‘gone’. The toilet itself wasn’t to bad though! The coffee I was served/delivered to my table was nice enough, however I have to agree with the other reviews that say the place is over priced! I dislike giving negativity in reviews as most of my others prove! However this is my honest opinion on my visit today! Not sure I’d return unfortunately.

3 years agoDon't bother with Costa. Dolce has the best coffee and offers non dairy/custom coffee at a great price. If Leigh had a Starbucks I would still pick Dolce.

4 years agoOver priced rubbish. I didn't think you could get a toastie wrong but I was clearly mistaken. Basically two slices of toast with some filling that wasn't remotely melted and at 7.95 each x 3 all 3 were horrible. I won't be coming to this place again

4 years agoAsked for a Flat White coffee extra hot...and it was perfect, as was my decaffeinated Americano coffee with hot milk. Always service with a smile and tables kept clean and tidy.

4 years agoI am a fan of your cakes n coffee but unfortunately from last 3 visits I m facing the issue of cakes not being fresh they are dry n crumbly n lost freshness today itself when I went n asked if any cake is fresh I was told no cakes were fresh but prepared 2 days back I still understand that batch takes time n they prepare day or 2 earlier but at least keep it fresh n moist

4 years agoWe went for coffee and breakfast here one freezing morning and it seemed like there was no heating on, when the breakfast arrived the plates were freezing cold and the food was already getting cold fast because it stood on the hatch for quite a while, would have thought all cafés would warm plates first, the breakfast was cold before we had eaten half! So that ruined our nice breakfast ? hope they notice this review because before this happened we couldn't fault the place

Addition: came on 15th October and although food and drink good, 1 member of staff consistently had her visor on top of her head - not good!
