I visited with a friend to try the cakes and coffee. We weren't disappointed. Best cakes in Leigh by a long way. The coffee we had was very good. I was that impressed with the cakes I returned a few days later for lunch. The smashed avocado with feta was excellent, as was the chocolate orange pie. The cafe is very clean and the staff were very friendly. On both occasions, the cafe was very busy, and the service was fairly quick. There are a few tables outside for when the weather improves, for me anyway. I would like to see a better way to dry your hands in the bathroom. When I visited, the only option was to use an industrial size paper roll that was just placed near the sink.

Had a lovely lunch, although compared to other eggs royal I've had it was a slightly small portion, really nicely cooked eggs and smoked salmon but not keen on crusty bread and would have been better with extra bread, enough for me but not much for a working lunch at £10. Staff really friendly and helpful, I find a lot of coffee too strong, so asked for a larger cup and more hot water to be added, the young lady was very happy to sort it for me thank you. The owner popped out a few times and seemed very friendly. The place is fairly small but spotless and busy I would happily recommend but advise you book. Oh yes the cakes looked amazing definitely be visiting again to try them. Thank you and every success.

Perfect venue for a baby shower! Thank you so much! We held our friends baby shower here and it was such a perfect afternoon. Morgan made everything so easy and simple to help organise. Morgan created a themed afternoon tea for our friend which was delicious. The service was fantastic and our waitress was the sweetest which added to our day.

First time ever coming into this cafe and it was brilliant. The staff were professional and they were very talkative, this is the best cafe I have ever been to and it was way better than the famous brands e.g. Starbucks and Costa. The food was very enjoyable and tasty. I ordered a chicken, bacon and mayo sandwich and oh my word it was fantastic, I also ordered a vanilla cappuccino which was spot on, and when I went to Starbucks they couldn’t make a cappuccino as good as these guys and gals. Please go here if you want to enjoy every single sip and bite of food and beverages. Mama Mia.

The food was incredible! The meat was fresh, the cheese was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. The service was quick and non intrusive. We had a bottle of wine as well and there was a good choice. We also had cake after it and everything came to £65. Between 2 of us it was £32.50 which is an absolute bargain! I will definitely go again for bottomless brunch. Best place in Leigh for cakes and the new charcuterie boards.

We had our sons first birthday party here and it was absolutely amazing! The buffet was gorgeous and everyone who came commented on how good the food was! Morgan (the owner) went out of his way to help us set up for the party before guests came and made sure we were happy as well as everyone else. I would 10000% recommend any smaller events being held here! I have been previously for afternoon tea and to buy cakes. I know I will be going here a lot more now as I can not fault a single thing! 🤍

it was the perfect place for a catch up with my girls! the staff were so lovely and accommodating, and we really got on well with them. the atmosphere was absolutely lovely, with a gorgeous set up, trendy music, and the nicest little touches for decoration. the cakes were amazing and i was spoilt for choice! it is absolutely the most perfect place for a coffee and a catch up, and i’ll definitely be back again (to try all of the cakes)!

This is the cutest place for a catch up with the girls. The fairy lights and decor create the perfect ambience and the food is delicious. The staff were so nice and we will definitely be back again!

An amazing afternoon tea, delicious sandwiches, fabulous cakes/patisserie- all homemade by the very talented owner of the business, I believe. Scones were served warm with plenty of jam and clotted cream and probably some of the nicest I've ever tasted. The young man who served us (the owner??) was extremely accommodating to our needs and lovely to chat to. On entering/leaving the cafe there's a takeaway counter selling quality looking cakes - I bought a takeaway "school cake", which my daughter assures me, was amazing. The cafe was very clean, pretty, decorated with lovely fairy lights and the atmosphere was welcoming and cosy - a definite little piece of heaven hidden in a small side street away from the busy town centre. I believe they also make bespoke celebration cakes and host kids parties Can't say enough to recommend visiting "that secret ingredient" and we will certainly be back soon

I took my mum and sister for afternoon tea and it’s safe to say we were not disappointed. We have had many afternoon teas and this is up there with some of the best. Amazing cakes and the scones were out of this world. Amazing service. A lovely bunch of young ladies. I would highly recommend and what a lovely addition to the local community

What a gem of a place drove out for afternoon tea, the best one we have had. The service and food were all amazing as was the atmosphere. The staff are extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Cannot wait to go back, 5 star all round.

I have had many orders of cakes off morgan over the years and every order has been delicious! he has such a talent and passion, I am so happy for him that hes now opened a local tea room to sit in and visit. Highly recommend very friendly ❣️❣️

Had my daughter’s 12th birthday party here! Morgan could not do enough for us…. Excellent communication and easy to organise, even catering for Gluten Free child. All the girls aged between 6 & 15 loved the party! Also the best place to visit for coffee & a cake.

Love this cafe! They have a great selection of fresh cakes and they do incredible scones! Staff are really lovely too and it has a nice feel :) I'm definitely going to try their afternoon tea soon as it looks yummy!

I had the festive afternoon tea, which was great value for money. Great sandwich choice, warm scones, warm soup, amazing cakes, and a couple of cappuccinos. This shop is a lovely addition to Leigh, everybody should call in for a drink and a cake, there's a lovely selection to choose from. I will definitely be returning.

My first time at The Secret Ingredient. My Capuchino was amazing. The brownie was fresh, and delicious. This place is definitely a secret gem in the heart of Leigh and I can not recommend it highly enough. They offer a great indoor seating area for having your drink and cake in a relaxing environment. They also offer a great takeaway service, which is especially good for the amazing cakes and brownies.

Wow what can I say. Just been here with my husband, daughter and her friend. Lovely little cafe, with great service, friendly staff and lovely and clean. I had a biscoffe rocky road which was amazing! Egg Mayo sandwich, which came on a thick white bloomer style bread and a little side salad, it was amazing. Complimented with a Caramel latte which is one of the best Caramel lattes I've ever had. My daughter had a Caramel latte also which she loved and it was just a Pepsi max for her friend, which came with a glass jar, straw and ice, lovely little touch. On the table was little jars of sugar sachets with a Cork lid, nice little touch to the decor. I took away a biscoffe rocky road for my son which he also loved! Everything made in house by the lovely Morgan and staff. Friendly family run business, which is great to see. Nice little cafe in the town centre, right facing a pay and display carpark or you can always use the 30min/1 hour parking bays situated at the front of the cafe or all around the area, not too far walking distance. I would highly recommend That Secret Ingredient. Thanks

A great little place for some seriously good food. Located on a small side street with a car park (pay and display) literally just over the road. I had a Chicken and Bacon Sandwich, Jammy Dodger Blondie amd a Caramel Latte. The sandwich was really nice. On fresh thick bloomer style bread and a small salad to either add to or to eat with your fork. Well worth it! My fave bit now as I love cakes of all kind. That Jammy Dodger Blondie was amazing. What makes it special is that all the sweet delights here are made in house. Next up my Caramel Latte. Again I really enjoyed this drink. It complimented my cake beautifully! Ha ha ha I love cake. It is very clean and tidy inside with super friendly staff. I will certainly be visiting again. Thank you

Just sitting here having eaten a chicken and bacon sandwich. Now eating a slice of lemon drizzle cake and washing it all down with hot chocolate. Absolutely delish. A place you must visit.

Morgan from That Secret Ingredient was lovely & professional from start to finish! He made a two tier chocolate cake for my sons birthday & it was perfect. It went down a treat. I would 100% recommend to anyone, you won't be disappointed! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
