This use to be a place I would not have been comfortable in but since a small revamp and a new landlord....just like pubs today that's how to stay alive...just try it ....it does it for me now a days 🤔 great people great atmosphere..

1 year agoLandlady spends all her time in Blackpool comes back weekends slates he staff watching cameras while she is at home pub is sorted landlady kills it leave and let someone who wants it to run it the only thing wrong with the the pub is the landlady

1 year agoWent on a Bank Holiday Monday. Was busiest pub in Leigh but they did have a Queen tribute act on. Was lively and friendly. Don't think they do food. Parking would be difficult as it's on a main road but side street parking or car park nearby. Decent selection of drinks and competitive prices.

2 years agoWe really enjoyed our visit to The White lion. Food was good but our waiter Georgia was amazing. She was very attentive and quick to take orders. Would definitely visit again because of her!

4 years agoGreat pub real ale heaven ..only noticed two of the seven handpumps were not being used and two of the keg taps great freindly characterful pub needs a sweep up and a lick of paint outside to make it more inviting and another dark on as well as there own plum porter (which is ok) or maybe a red then it would be a great pub

6 years agoScotch Dave actually does a good job ...he plays to the audience ... as he cannot play northern soul all the time as these punters dont know what it is !!! ..not a lot of room to dance but ..we manage.. hes settled in his role and does play some cracking n/s when needed ...

8 years agoRegular Good Beer Guide entry, this Allgates owned house is a somewhat basic, even Spartan boozer. Opposite the parish church, it is two rooms, one with long bar. Friendly service, but I think it lacks some comfort and class. Good nonetheless as there are usually five cask beers on.
