We arrived quite early so we had a choice of tables on the deck, and one of the staff put an umbrella up for us. The location is absolutely idyllic and the pub fits into the setting perfectly. It's a limited menu outside, more finger-food type items. We both had burgers and shared a portion of chips, which arrived without too much of a wait. And when it arrived it was delicious, easily the best burgers we've had for quite some time. What a fantastic lunch and we will definitely be returning soon

1 year agoCalled for lunch today at 12.18pm. don't normally look at my watch but it seemed very quiet and we were not sure it was open. Notice on door said they had opened at 12 noon. Counted 3 other couples inside as we went in. Very very quiet but put it down to only just having opened for the day. Shown to a table and ordered drinks then food within first few minutes, would say food ordered at 12.25.
By 1.05pm we had drunk up and were still waiting for food. We had ordered a pizza and haddock and chips.We went to the bar to enquire to be told it would only be a few more minutes so we gave up waiting and went elsewhere. How long did they need to cook a pizza and fish and chips? The sign on the bar about not serving fast food needs to be amended to advise that you will wait forever for food. Sorry but in this day and she they need to get their act together. They will never cope with a busy pub

1 year agoMe and my partner went for something to eat yesterday evening.
Quieter on a Wednesday, but was greeted by the staff with a smile and massive welcome.
Menu explained with an offer on the small plates.
Food was really really good, when we finally received it. We didn't anticipate for how quiet it was that the food would take so long.
Overall, I'm hoping that the minor delay in food was due to other reasons but we would return in the future.

1 year agoWhat a waste of my Sunday afternoon.
Pre ordered 3 roasts and they only had one chicken left.
Only a choice of Budwiser or Kopperberg on tap.
We waited over an hour and half for food and half of it didnt even come out. Prawns cold, meatballs raw, broccoli raw, chicken tasted of oil.
Won't be returning any time soon.

1 year agoReally enjoyed a bottomless brunch here would highly recommend it the food was hot, tasty and plentiful the cocktails were really nice and they kept them coming it's a must. The staff were warm and welcoming

1 year agoWe came here today for lunch before picking up the little ones. We rarely get time together, certainly not for anything romantic, but the atmosphere here was so relaxing and we had such a great lunch date. The staff were attentive and polite, we were seated earlier than our booking with no fuss (we arrived too early), the food was fantastic (the golden nugget cheesecake was soooo good). We'll definitely be back for a mini date 🤍

1 year agoFood was excellent. I had carbonara which was being trialed as a new menu item and my company had pie of the day. The staff were really lovely and friendly. My only criticism would be the length of time it took for the food to come once ordered. The lady serving said it was due to an influx of orders and only having one chef on in the day (which is understandable, it wasn’t overly busy but we were so hungry). Despite that, we will be going back due to how good the food was. Had a lovely afternoon. Thank you.

The Sunday Roast was absolutely delicious, but the rump steak in the Mixed Grill seemed a bit disappointing in terms of texture.

Very friendly and good service.
Breakfast and Sunday Lunch are Great.
I would give 5 stars but is slightly more expensive then Atherton which is my favourite for Sunday Lunch.

1 year agoJust had a meal at the Waterside in Leigh. The food was spot on, especially the chocolate orange cheesecake. The staff are all very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. A special mention goes out to Lottie and Jason. Cheers guys 🍻 We will definitely be back. 👍

1 year agoWent in for food today previously visited for drinks meal was absolutely delicious you can tell they use top quality ingredients bit pricy but was very nice change from the usual run of the mill places in the deprived town. We sat out on the canal side, soaking up the sun with some nice views and the staff were very friendly and helpful

1 year agoMet a friend and her dogs here for lunch, we sat outside on the deck and had lunch. Absolutely the best choice we could have made, food was amazing and looked so pretty! Jo the manager and the gentleman on the bar were lovely and so helpful, even bringing water out for the dogs xx First time I've been since they re-opened and I highly recommend!

2 years agoAlthough this review is quite lengthy, I will summarize it by stating that this will not be my final visit to the Waterside Inn. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and the staff was very friendly.
This was my first visit to The Waterside Inn since it reopened. We arrived a few minutes after it opened for the day, but the establishment was immaculate and fully prepared for the day's operations.
The inside of the place is really nice. Since it was raining, we sat inside. You can pick any table you want and order at the bar.
The drinks are all pretty cheap. In the middle of drinking mine, I noticed a small crack in the glass. They brought me a new one and even filled it up more without charging me.
We selected the three starters for £15, which were delightful. The pork belly bites were particularly impressive, as was the mushroom starter, which was accompanied by an exceptional sauce. The patatas bravas were also enjoyable, although they were quite rich. My only recommendation would be to reduce the amount of tomato sauce, as it was so abundant that it seemed as if the dish was swimming in a tomato soup rather than being complemented by a sauce.
I opted for the lamb Sunday lunch. The portion was substantial, preventing me from completing the entire meal. Notably, the preparation of the lamb closely resembled my grandmother's cooking, both in terms of taste and texture. It was evident that the ingredients were fresh and not subjected to freezing or mass cooking methods commonly employed by other establishments.
My partner ordered the mixed grill and was delighted to find that they had English mustard and proper pork sausages, rather than the less expensive ones that some establishments serve. The meal was also well-portioned and cooked to perfection.
The staff provided exceptional service and were very attentive. I cannot find any fault with their service. I highly recommend this establishment.
