1st time visit to leigh Tesco, very much larger than the one we visit at earlstown, lot more choice her but saying that when visited on a very very hot day so some of the shelves where empty because the staff had to remove items as the fridges could not cope with the heat. 2 months agoReally disappointing experience here on Friday night (10th April). After finishing at the gym next door around 9:40pm, we checked the store hours online (which clearly state closing time is 12am) and went in to quickly grab a few essentials. However, as soon as we entered, a security guard told us we only had 8 minutes before closing, which completely contradicts the advertised hours. We rushed to get what we needed, but the fruit and veg scales/printers had already been turned off, so we had to leave items behind. We grabbed a couple of other things and were finished within 5 minutes—well within the time we were told. As my boyfriend approached the self-checkout, a staff member (blonde, in full Tesco uniform) said “nice one, we’ll all just wait for you shall we” in a very aggressive and rude tone. When he pointed out how unprofessional that was—especially given we were within the time allowed—she continued to argue instead of apologising, then walked away without giving her name. I was genuinely shocked by the attitude. There’s no excuse for speaking to customers like that. Tesco needs to: * Ensure advertised opening hours are accurate and consistent * Stop shutting down key services well before closing time * Address staff behaviour and professionalism. This experience was unnecessarily stressful and left a very poor impression.

3 months agoMake sure you take everything with you after you pay or you won't get it back. I took some clothes back to exchange at the customer service counter and buy some new ones, I also purchased 2 large cans of Lynx deodorant (£10). When getting the clothes together I must have left the deodorant on the side. When I got the clothes out a few days later, I couldn't find the deodorant. I searched the house and the car and nowhere to be found. I returned to the store a few days after that (working away so it was the first chance I got). When I asked in the store they just said "it's too long ago so there is nothing I could do about it". My response to the manager was "well they would have know i left them because they was on the counter and they should have put them to one side". I suspect that either the staff don't care that you leave stuff and just put it back on the shelf or they took them. Either way, it's not good customer service. I will probably new use Tesco again because of this. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE EVERYTHING YOU PURCHASE or they will certainly have it

5 months agoGood sized roomy tesco with a large range of products and usually good stock levels. Polite staff and generally not too much queuing at the well staffed tills. Only bad point for me, is the traffic congestion getting off the car park which at busy times can be bad, snarling up the car park, tesco petrol station, traffic lights and the main road beyond.

6 months agoPaid for a bag but the checkout guy in green jumper ran at me like i was a theif and questioned me about not paying for my bag and took it off me then while my daughter was crying he kept laughing in my face witch wasnt so nice they need be sorted out not be let loose on the shop floor

8 months agoI like the 5 hour parking, the auto car wash plus a self service jet wash. The cafe is very good value. Toasted teacake and a pot of tea £4 plus breakfasts and snacks etc. All foods reasonably priced and a fair selection of everything non food.

8 months agoClosing the shop 8 minutes early, customer service shocking advising to come earlier? Update your times on google instead of misleading your customers absolutely appalling 🤮 Why on earth advertise your open till 5 when you close the shop 10 to 5, absolute joke

9 months agoTesco states shutting time is 12am. Asked a colleague that stated now shuts at 10pm. Went to get some bits at 9:30pm and was told all the tills are shut even self checkout… not convenient for anyone going out their way to get bits to be turned away before closing time.

11 months agoService is garbage to be quite frankly honest. Staff are generally miserable and frequently misplace or mix up orders, leaving you sad with the completely wrong food. It’s also not exactly sanitary, with tables dirty and overstuffed with previous food/plates. Sainsbury’s Café was superior by a great margin. I strongly do not recommend.

1 year agoBig, spacious and tidy. Good facilities with cafe and pharmacy too. Not too busy and well laid out. Good have better stock levels though. Great stationary section! Recommended.

1 year agoThis isnt so much a review, more of a massive thank you to Liz and Pam who helped me in the petrol station this morning. The auto car wash was broken and i had no cash on me to use the foam brush/jet wash and they went in their own pocket to give me the £3 i needed to wash my car.Absolutely 100% above and beyond great customer service so thank you so much. I hope senior management gets to read these reviews and acknowledge and reward these 2 lovely ladies because they deserve it. Again thank you very much. Your sincerely, Dave

1 year agoI went in this store this morning have never met such bad mannered staff on the self service tills they both have zero communication & people skills I will be reporting it I question how they got the job in the first place I will stick with my usual supermarket and will not shop in tesco again

1 year agoThe pharmacy is absolutely useless. Every time I’ve been (around 6pm) there’s the same woman (clearly not a pharmacist, Tesco staff clothing) who whenever I ask if they have anything for an ongoing skin condition tells me they can’t sell me anything. First time I thought this was odd as it’s cream any other pharmacy would sell over the counter. Second time I was told they can’t sell me it because they don’t have a licence to do so. Others were being turned away as well. Utterly useless. Don’t have a pharmacy open at that time if you can’t actually help people.

1 year agoOpening hours are wrong. Arrived just after 10pm on a Friday to find store completely closed and staff leaving. Opening hours on Google and Tesco app say store should be open until midnight. Toilets are also regularly closed.

2 years agoI am writing this on behave of a customer that I felt sorry for. First time going in this store. A customer was in a rush to leave and member of staff which was a older man had ago at her for walking out with a tesco bag, she thought she paid for it and didn't realise. Whoever this staff member was, he wouldn't let it go to a point, she told him she didn't get her receipt, he made her walk back in, check the system for her receipt and rudely said YOU HAVEN'T PAID, 30P NOW. I find that bang out of order, she kept looking at me and looked so beside herself. He kept watching her as she was paying for the bag. She was pulling out change from her purse as quick as she could. To me that is too far, all that drama for a 30p bag. Clearly that man doesn't consider how hard it is now with cost of living. Very rude and terrible. I don't know what his name is but management needs to have a word with him for his attitude. He could of dealt with that better. If the guy sees this, you're not gonna get a bonus for having ago at customer over bag mate

2 years agoThis review is for a member of staff - Magdalena. I’ve had terrible service over the phone with Tesco and I went in store to finally resolve my issue. Magdalena on Customer Service went above and beyond, allowed me to fully explain and then resolved my issue. Thank you again Magdalena, I hope you get the recognition you deserve!

2 years agoRegular customer in the cafe, 2 staff Sara and Tom are brilliant, always friendly and helpful however the cafe often has only one person on the till who has to serve and make drinks causing a long wait, would be better if they had two people, one to take orders and one to make drinks, unfair on the staff and customers at busy times

2 years agoQuick shopping at Tesco turned into a nightmare (Thursday 28/03/2024 14:10). I was trapped for over 2 hours in the parking lot. Tesco employees delegated to manage traffic dared not block the entrance when it reached 99% capacity. Most elderly people couldn't reverse their cars, so I don't even want to know how long they helplessly sat there. Nightmare!

2 years agoSaturday 8.50pm unable to buy cigarettes kiosk closed someone still on kiosk and yet store open until 10pm why? Has happened before but never this early come in Tesco sort your lazy staff out

2 years agoVisited Leigh Tesco pharmacy this evening the tall young man with warm brown hair is amazing always helps ,gives advice However the older gentleman working alongside him is very very abrupt and rudely spoke over him this evening Shocking treat of his colleague

2 years agoJust been in Tesco Leigh and came through the till and I’ve never seen such an ignorant staff member as the woman who served me, not once did she speak to me during the transaction but was constantly talking to her colleague behind her who was working on next till….only time I was spoken to was when she told me how much my shopping was……Very Rude indeed…..

2 years agoOne of the better Tesco Extras with ample decent sized parking spaces and well stocked shelves at decent prices plus a good sized fuel station. Also it's next to a magnificent football stadium which is home to Bolton Wanderers. What more could you want or need?

2 years agothe gorilla from the entrance didn’t let me in to buy milk for my baby on christmas eve beacuse the manager said so 16:50 they closed at 17:00. it takes me 2 min to take the milk and leave as i know where it is. thank you tesco Leigh, merry christmas !

2 years agoBEWARE!!! this store closes WAY before it's supposed to. It should close at 10 pm, however when I turned up last Friday the doors were locked at NINE FORTY THREE!!! the security wouldn't open them, myself and four other would be customers had to go elsewhere to spend our money. Today sunday 17th Dec 2023 I was in store,.it 'closes' at 5pm. Despite this the woman on the tannoy announced "this store closes in ten minutes", this was at 4.35!! Then at 4.40 she announced "please make your way to the tills as this store is now closing". I am utterly disgusted that this is happening. This is NOT how customers should be treated! May I say to the staff if you hate your job that much then go, I'm sure Tesco can find staff who actually like the job enough to treat the customers with the respect they deserve. Seriously, next time you go towards the end of the day listen to the announcements then look at your watch. Also feel free to make a complaint! Customers deserve to be respected.

2 years agoNice, clean and wide isles with plenty of choices. Large car park with a car wash if required. Nice reasonably priced cafe upstairs with a lift access. In general prices are not too bad if you have a club card to discount prices. One thing I dislike is the various ways of pricing similar items so that you are unable to compare them properly. But this happens in all supermarkets.

2 years agoPeople are staring at you when you walk round the store and giving dirty looks and so do the staff I felt very uncomfortable people stop in front of you while you are looking at things and they expect you to move away when they could of walked round. And the staff do not watch out for people safety like in other stores I've visited homeless people waiting outside the front entrance making it really unsafe I've just had someone walking past me on my shoulder it is a trouble store.

2 years agoUnacceptable, The customer service was awful. Never going again. I come from Wales and i had to stop by as i am going to Liverpool. Its my first time in England and it was a terrible first impression. I wanted to get some snacks and drinks as there was still 15 minutes of the drive but they refused to let me buy alcohol for when we get there, my sister has moved to Liverpool and we were staying there for the first time, i have gone past England to go to Scotland but never to stay there. I gave them my ID but they didnt let me buy the Gin because i 'looked shady' since i was wearing black leggings a black jacket and coat- as it was raining-. However, there was a kind, slightly round, tall, also welsh man who helped me get the crisps from the back of the top shelf, i think his name was Andrew and he is a staff member there. If you do go there i recommend staying away from Stacy and asking the tall welsh man, Andrew for help.

3 years agogood Tesco, prices were as expected. Quite like any other tesco. This tesco in particular is rather large. It has two floors with the first floor for shopping and the second floor has a cafe and some toilets. To get to the cafe you can either take the stairs or use the lift so very accessible

3 years agoI bought stuff from the store on 2 days. 30th and 31st January 23. Four months later, Four months! I've got a FPN for £60. They claim I parked overnight, which is untrue. I now have to appeal to the parking cowboys Civil Enforcement. Sorry Tesco, I love your shop, but, forget seeing me anymore. Its too much hassel

3 years agoAmazing customer service! I would like to thank Robert the member of staff at Tesco Leigh that kindly came to my rescue today to change my car tyre, in the rain. I had only asked him for assistance with the bolts but he ended up doing the whole thing ☺️ I am extremely grateful. Thank you again Robert, what a hero.

3 years agoTesco is a great place to shop with loads of free parking available lots of stock price matched with Aldi the club card is a good way of saving money for Christmas The staff are very helpful and go the EXTRA mile to make your visit a happy one I myself visit here at least 3/4 times a week and it's only one mile from my home PERFECT Big thumbs up from me.

3 years agoLove the shop and go feature of Tesco. It makes checking out so much easier. Not a big fan of the he Aldi price match because Aldi is cheaper, but I suppose it does helps us save money.

3 years agoNo issues with the store at all but the carpark is horrendous to get off especially at Christmas and other holidays!! It needs another exit possibly down the side coming out near the bingo carpark.Also don’t like that it’s not a Tesco carpark and got a warden hiding near the car wash apparently!! No good if you go in Tesco then for food and cinema you will definitely get a ticket as a 5 hour limit!

3 years agoOn Thursday 17th of November, a man was outside struggling to stand and eventually he fell unconscious and the staff did nothing, their excuse was he is probably drunk or homeless. They only rang an ambulance after it was clear he was not drunk but actually unconscious and that was only after 45 minutes. Disgusting, it shouldn’t of mattered if he was drunk or homeless, he was clearly in pain.

3 years agoUsed to be Great place cheap not anymore things are rising steeply more then other supermarkets ques are getting ridicously long due to them not wanting to open a load of isles they want people to use the trolly pay thing and less staff it's a joke especially busy times coming up now think. 3 years agoI don't visit this Tesco a lot tbh but today I popped in for a few things. Prices pretty competitive with Club Card. What struck me was the excellent customer service provided by Yasmin and her warehouse colleague Mike. I lost an item of jewellery that rolled under the food shelves. They helped me look for it and moved pallets out of way until we found it. I'm so appreciative to both Mike and Yasmin. Well done and thank you so much.

3 years agoI called into store yesterday and all fine until I tried to get off car park. 45 mins to get off, absolutely gridlocked!! Rang customer service in store, took 8 mins to answer then appeared not to know anything about issue. Will never go again!!!

4 years agoWaited an hour for food then when it arrived was stone cold took said meal back to counter to be told it couldn't be it had just been cooked I asked for a fresh meal but waited another half hour for it when brought to table no sorry about that or any apology

4 years agoExcellent place to shop! However I am so disappointed with the plant selection.. most lanes are dying through lack of water. Can no one in such a large store go outside and water them??? Such a shame let’s you down.

4 years agoWe come every morning to fuel up and get our dinner (meal deal) Sims mornings there isn't enough food in stock to make a meal deal up. I wish they'd stock the shelves the night before target that later that day.

5 years agoVery poor customer service, staff chatting away with each other as left to stand waiting as if I didn't exist. No interaction with me and my wife. Been coming in this store since it opened, but think its time for a change, my cash spends anywhere. Polite word to the staff, just remember no customers no job.

5 years agoVisited the store yesterday to purchase gift cards for my NHS staff and was followed from the gift card section to the tills, made to feel very uncomfortable and then after queueing for 30 minutes, was then told i was only allowed 5 cards. I asked where it says that on the stand as i had spent 40 minutes picking them as well. I was rudely told to check online as it wasnt his problem??? I asked again for him to show me where it says and he ignored me. I asked to speak to the manager, which he says he was, i told him would he like me to report it to the papers that tesco are not willing to let me purchase gifts for NHS staff, to which he had security come over and told me to leave the building. Absolutely unbelievable. I even said i understand you get a lot of fraud but i was paying on a debit card that had a picture of me and my son on it, hardly the stuff of a fraud mastermind? Wont be stepping foot in here again and will be reporting to the papers to let them Tesco DO NOT support the NHS and their vital Key workers!

5 years agoI'm a frequent flyer lol, coz it's 3 min from my house. I went to the pharmacy and was seen to by Vinnie, and I have been coming to this store since it was opened, and the pharmacy staff are nowhere near how nice Vinnie is at his job. Very polite and willing to help. Addresses you like a professional and doesn't speak to the a customer like a customer is an Idiot. Thanks Vinnie, the world could do with a lot of people like you. Thanks
