Leigh Spinners Mill

Very cool building, was visiting the computer museum (which was very good with helpful staff). Love repurposed old buildings, and the oldschool lift was nice too. However the building seems to have damp/mold issues at least on the 4th floor, made me cough quite a bit. Would definitely go again but hope the mold on the ceiling is sorted by then.

Issue with only way to access a public lift is on the first floor. Floor 4 is where the Leigh Armed Forces Hub is located and also the National Computer Museum.

Watched family members perform in a christmas panto. The mill is great, it still has the original lift in good working order and the whole building is full of character

I would give two stars for signage and knowing what’s there. My son had been a week before as he had seen one shop on the internet. What is there is a mystery and there’s no way to find your way around that we couldn’t work out. there must’ve been other places within that would’ve been of interest that we didn’t visit for fear of walking down a corridor that we were not supposed to be down. Everybody we did see seemed to be friendly and I guess you could’ve asked for help if you were finding your way to a particular area but having a little look around it felt very uncomfortable and a little unfair on some of the retailers as it was very quiet. It really needs to increase footfall and this would be through better advertisement, better signage, better directions but overall I think this place could be an absolute goldmine and a real gem within the area for those unique retailers a little bit like the afflecks Palace of Northwest Manchester

This place is so diverse and thriving with creativity. With a variety of businesses, artists, entertainment, sports and activities. Every time I visit there's something new. This time I went to Leigh Film Factory, an independent cinema for their annual film festival. A fabulous event.

Actually went to see the North-West computer museum but popped into the heritage preservation centre while we were there. It was a real treat. The "Mayor" and "Mayoress" static steam engines are a joy to see. The main flywheel is still there and you can see where the ropes would have taken power to each floor. It is breathtaking. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable and happy to discuss. It's volunteer run and can only open for a limited hours so check before you visit.

Would have had 5 stars but the sad truth is the machine isn't working. They're actively looking for people who want to be trained up to become an engineer without any experience though, so if this is your passion or you have time to offer I'd suggest calling in on a Tuesday or Saturday morning to speak to the staff who kindly gave me a 1-2-1 tour.

Inside the mill it has everything for everybody. You can do computing sewing jiu-jitsu art photography there's also a gym. Cinema and much more.

So many fascinating hidden gems. My favourite things here are Leigh Hackspace and the NW Computer Museum, but there are so many other things going on you can spend a whole day just wandering the building and looking around.

I attended a 3D printing course here this week. Thanks to the undercover parking and the large lift I was able to attend even in my wheelchair. Definitely could be improved by having a toilet on the 4th floor because even with the lift it was a long way to go for the disabled toilets on the 2nd floor.

Really enjoyable day at the Northwest Computer Museum. It was great to see all the old 70s and 80s computers/ gaming machines. Most of them switched on and available for you to use. Plenty of software to explore. Friendly staff who "leave you alone" but are available for questions or to help if needed. A great nostalgic trip back to my childhood. Thoroughly recommend a visit

Just been to the cafe inside the Computer Museum on 4th floor. Lovely food, great value and really friendly service. Will definitely go again and recommend it to everyone

I visited in Oct 2023 mainly for the Computer Museum which was fabulous. We must have been in there three hours. They have a great collection of PC's going back through the years and a retro Video Game Arcade. This is a huge complex that can be a bit of a rabbit warren inside. Maybe meeter's and greeters could assist at the entrance. Signage could be better really to guide you around. One thing you need to know when visiting is when all the different business are actually open. Several were closed when we were there even the café and sadly the Steam Engine room. There is a myriad of activities on site that will tempt you to come back I certainly will.

Really nice heritage centre and impressive mill engine. The North West Computer Museum is really good and worth a visit. There is a maze of corridors and signage needs improvement,some areas need improvement.

The Cinema on the fourth floor is well worth the visit. Like going back in time. A lot of the refit done by Kevin . Great carpenter who makes bespoke one of furniture.

Popped into the visitors centre and was blown away by the displays and the giant wheel that used to power the mill. The guides were well versed in the buildings history. Had a look around the rest of the mill, and there's a lot going on in the building. Will definately be back.

Me and the misses called in today on our way to one of the other units at the mill. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and even happily discussed amendments with me as I'm a picky eater. The food arrived quickly and was hot and delicious. There is plenty of seating, it was very clean, the location is very central within the mill, and the prices are excellent. I spotted a previous review here stating it wasn't well sign posted, I suspect they have worked on this since then as it was very easy to find when we went. No complaints whatsoever, I'll definitely be calling back in. Cheers.

North West computer museum is on the 4th floor. A real must for anyone interested in computer and gaming history. £2.00 for a cappuccino and a bag of walkers crisps, best value ever. My grandson is in his element ?

Visited on a Monday afternoon, mostly closed, lift out of order. There may be some good things there, but I didn't see them and I visited 4 floors. Not sure all the plans and ideas are in place yet.

Very interesting, Heritage floor is well worth a visit, fantastic that the original Mill engine is still in situ, the volunteers are positive it will run again in the future. Other machinery on show with a wool loom being rebuilt. Excellent knowledge from the volunteers and guides

Fabulous place. So many different classes and events to enjoy. Cafe, heritage centre yoga and gym are particularly fantastic. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming. What more could you ask if you want to be a part of the community or even just to visit.
