Lovely little market that does the town of Leigh proud. Few decent cafes, sweet stall, mobile stalls, hardware stall, tobacconist, fruit and veg stall and console/games still to name only a few are at this market.

1 month agoBeen into Leigh Market , I know there’s empty stalls but it’s a nice place & Linda’s wool stall is fab very helpful card or cash. Also you can get Carr’s pasties there & Taylor’s pies .

3 months agoLocal markets aren’t just places to shop—they’re snapshots of life itself. Fresh ingredients, everyday groceries, clothing, and home goods, paired with friendly greetings and little acts of care from vendors, make every visit feel like coming home. In our fast-paced world, these markets are slowly disappearing, but the memories and community spirit they carry shouldn’t. Support your local market and help keep this warmth alive.

4 months agoIts okay. A lot of the stalls are empty or sell cheap bric or brac. No fish stall left since the left in 2025. The butchers off good value for money meat. Some of the cafes offer decent reasonable price food. Good selection of fruit and veg. Bbq meat stalls are often empty and what's left doesn't look too appetising. Bakeries offer good fresh bread and pasties . Much better quality than the supermarkets.

10 months agoA beautiful market with a variety of items on sale including fresh fruits, vegetables, home appliances, clothes etc. Butcheries are also available inside this market selling a variety of quality meat. For a cup of tea, there is a few clean restaurants inside the market.

1 year agoThis used to be a busy little market place but of late seen a decline in stall vendors. It's still worth a visit for the butchers and veg stall amongst other small bakery. There are a few nice little cafes. There a new Chinese street food stall that seemed popular.
John Kay
1 year agoI regularly visit this market. It has a wide range of things and a nice ambience. It's a pity the greengrocery is so expensive. I was stung once but not again. I prefer to go to Bolton market that is a lot cheaper and a lot more varied.

1 year agoGreggs at Leigh market are worth a visit. It's a large shop with plenty of tables and chairs. Very pleasant lady served me, I will call in for a coffee and a treat each time I am shopping in Leigh.

1 year agoIt was good. Got most of what I wanted. Pity the Fish Man seems to have gone. Used to like meat from them.

1 year agoMarkets like this have seemed to have been going into extension over the years and it gives the feeling of an older time with a variety of stalls and different things on sale and friendly people will to help or just have good conversation
Stuart Roe
1 year agoGreat little indoor market. Great for meat if you're looking for something special for your tea.
Chris Creedon
1 year agoMy local market with quite a few decent stalls. It’s just a shame there aren’t as many of them like in years past.
Mark Bickerton
1 year agoVarious types of outlets from Butchers , Watch repairs , Vape stalls , mobile phone accessories & cafes . The market has a good atmosphere with the hustle & bustle of shoppers , this place is really well looked after by it's market management . All areas are kept clean / tidy & safe for everyone . Reasonably priced as many older generations frequent many of the retailers . One of the larger cafes really go out of there way to make all welcome . the market makes a difference in the local community a real sense of belonging , long may this place thrive & continue doing what it does best , serve locals of all ages with a smile 😃 from Leigh .
Tony Hardman
1 year agoLove the indoor market with it's variety of stalls. Great make up stall, great fresh veg and cooked meat stalls, not to mention great fresh fish stall, everything under one roof. Good to see these type of markets surviving.
Val Simpson
1 year agoI've been a few times to this venue. I like the feel of an older style of market. Offers lots of variety. Even fish. There is a lot of choice. The staff I've spoken to are always friendly and helpful. I like this market.

1 year agoTop Banana greengrocers is pretty bad with stale & damaged foods. Gotta wade through.. looks like old stock to me. Other stalls excellent. The fish, Listers, Hot Chix, etc are superb!!
Steve [AtariCrypt] (AtariCrypt)
1 year agoAlways have a gander and check through the market for fresh meat, the Hong Kong rearaurant is amazing. Locksmiths okay but laughed in my face when i said i coukdnt lock the door
Ollie Leech
1 year agoSmall friendly market, good butchers bakers etc.. Support local businesses and buy fresh. Good cafes there too
Justin Bell
1 year agoThere aren’t many greengrocers in the whole of England more expensive than this one. You wouldn’t believe the prices they charge. Maybe it’s because it’s the only one in the market, but that’s no excuse to take advantage of the fact.
David Mills
1 year agoWhat I really like about Leigh Market is everything is in one place ie all the various market stalls and it's easy accessible It's not far from the main bus station in Leigh and you can also access it via the mall in Leigh as well Leigh Market Hall has wide range of stalls everything from food, sweets, fresh produce etc There is even a cafe and barbers inside as well
Anthony Bullough
1 year agoNice little market feels like old style one which I love I definitely loved a visit to gremlin games nice guys be nice to see it full quite a few empty stalls but overall good little market
Tommy Smith
1 year agoFabulous. Lots of choices of great meat, fish, poultry, pies and puddings. We had a lovely inexpensive lunch but best deal of tge day was a fantastic prope scissor haircut! Will I be back? You can be absolutely sure of that! Well done Leigh Market!
Stephen Tolley (Tolleyboypoet)
1 year agoSomeone said if a bomb dropped on leigh, it would cause damage to the value of £2.50! I see why. It's out of date and bleak. The Market is tatty and smelly. Someone will love it but it's full of people with nothing much happening in their world. Shame because we don't have markets anymore.
V Keavney
1 year agoGreat quality food fresh and cooked. With a good mix of stalls including clothes, DIY, Cosmetics and tech. Worth a visit and your support
Dave Harris
1 year agoStill going and still a great little market. Really good butchers and fishmongers, fruit n veg, sweet shop and a couple of busy cafes.
Helen Wood
1 year agoWe have our own little stall here in the Market and many more empty ones are now being filled the Market is certainly up and coming again. I enjoy working here because I'm surrounded by honest hardworking people who enjoy delivering a traditional customer service which in turn sets the atmosphere for a good day.
Luna Hare
1 year agoLovely place to be. It doesn't feel too crowded and it offers a great variety of market places. The prices seem to be reasonable.
Elena Roberts
1 year agoGreat place. Loved the market felt proper homely. Lovely fresh fruit, veg and meat. Nice to see the traders making a living selling good produce. Keep up the hard work. Visited a nice Cafe in the market called Cafe Central. Lovely hot plentiful food. Great service, very clean. The service and staff are a credit to the owners. Thank you.
Susan Cunliffe
1 year agoAbsolutely NOTHING here unless you want a phone case. Save your time, and money (car park) and just go somewhere else. Honestly. What a joke of a "Shopping" centre 🙄 and the high street ain't any better, mostly run down or closed shops.
kyle
1 year agoLeigh market is decent to be fair, lots of quality stores. And some good freshly cooked food, would recommend.
Idreece Hadi
1 year agoAlways love the market not enough stalls anymore and isn't cheap anymore sign of the times supermarkets has killed trade 😐
James Finn

2 years agoLeigh Market used to be the hub of the town centre shopping experience. Sorry to say the atmosphere and magic of the environment is lost with many units empty. You can still get some great products at great prices. The freshness of food available on different stalls is great but the council need to do something more for the market and Leigh in general
monkeybats
2 years agoQuiet market, but great to see these stall holders surviving, and keeping a market town with the bits & pieces we all need.
Ian Robinson
2 years agoLovely hotel and very reasonably priced. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Everywhere was lovely and clean. Rooms were a nice size, beds really comfortable and everything you need is supplied in your room. Highly recommend.

2 years agoGreat place with good prices compared with other markets that I have visited ,also you could negotiate at some stalls.
Tudor Tudor
2 years agoGood stalls with many bargains to had, however I feel the building is extremely dated and needs a renovation also there's a smell in there that hits you when you walk in. I would like to reiterate that the stalls and staff are great. Just the building is very dated n falling apart.
Rhys Hayes
2 years agoExcellent market. Great choice of fresh food produce, meats, fruit and vegetables, clothing and a cafe. Friendly stall holders, great bargains. Large car park free at weekends
Mark Stephan
2 years agoA lovely little market with plenty of fresh produce and I really enjoyed the festive decorations and the stunning Christmas display. It's so important to support you local market.
maria prince
2 years agoI hadn't been to Leigh for donkeys years, so I was very surprised to find this market there. Had a wonderful coffee and looksey around. Would recommend without doubt.
David Hadcroft
2 years agoMany empty stalls and prices aren't competitive. Maybe if Wigan council weren't screwing the tenants for every penny they can get, it would improve 100%
Martin Yates
2 years agoA pleasure to walk round and shop.. Well lite and clean. The stall holders are friendly. And the cafe at rear of the market sells the best meat and potato pie with gravy, that I have had in a long time.
Susan Burrows
2 years agoGreat market, lovely fresh good quality produce, deli counters where you can get sliced meats off the bone and a good variety of other stalls
Jane Varney
2 years agoWent to buy our Christmas cards with having 7 kinds and 10 grandkids plus lots of other family it works OK. We had a walk round, and it seems better and busier than the last time we went in, which, to be fair, was probably just before last Christmas. We were there on the 11th at 11 am when there was 2 minutes silence, and everyone stood quietly still , respect to all.
Brian Norris
2 years agoNot a big market but has plenty to offer. Good butchers, bakery, some good stalls. Decent little cafe.Market is attached to a small shopping arcade. Worth a visit.
Robert Norris
2 years agoNot been here for years and a lot of changes have taken place, different shops etc however, a good experience with polite stallholders trying to make a living where I believe in supporting your local businesses and community.
Gareth Crosby

EDDIE JONES
2 years agoFabulous array of food , great cafe , fish, chips, peas and mug if tea just over £8.00 dint go anywhere else for your dinner ! Clothes and more. Brilliant ?
Sue Aston
2 years agoIn my opinion there is the best value for beef and sausages in the market hall. I have not been to other markets which have the same varied products. Good value and Leigh has the edge on other markets and RL.
Harold Tudge
2 years agoGetting poor there now. Quality of produce dropping and prices rising. Get better quality at a better price at Bury market. Bit further to travel but more choice. Although parking is not free it is cheap
Alastair Christie
2 years agoSome good old fashioned shops and stalls and they sell carts pasties, but as a whole it's very run down and shabby.
Ken Mcdougall
2 years agoRetro game shop is amazing. They do all your current stuff to and have very competitive prices. I've no real issues with the place but if I was to say one thing, the layout is a bit chaotic. Not really their fault as they are really limited with the space they have however, I feel this could probably be laid out who struggle with accessibility.
J-Jay Rocket
2 years agoLove this place almost everything in one place good atmosphere and helpful people there is also 2 cafes in here so good if you want a brew
karen smith
2 years agoNormally always pop into Leigh market when in town, lots of usual stalls. Highly recommend the fresh cooked meats and hot food in the corner.

3 years agoI love leigh Market, lots of different stalls, food cafés, clothes, home decor, tools, bakery items and lots of smells, takes me back in time " BUT" not one toilet....not even a disabled toilet, so happy shopping.
Stephen O'Rourke

Peter Dean
3 years agoGreat butchers called Listers on this market. We love the quality of meat from here. The fruit and veg guys are brilliant as is the fish guy.
Kieran Haunch
3 years agoNot the best but ok seen better markets all seem to be the same sort of shops, lots of nail and eyebrow places if that's what you want. But mens barbers there are great.
Jason Thomas
3 years agoAlways buy my meat from butchers here and fruit and veg. Could do with few more stalls but covid and cost of living not helped businesses.
P E
3 years agoLovely place to shop. All the stalls are easy to get to and the staff are so friendly.
paul hurst
3 years agoGood little market. Vacant units/stalls for anyone interested. Show the market some love, lets keep it going folks.

3 years agoLeigh market is absolutely brilliant. Go every week to do my shopping. Better products and easier to get around. Price's of products are very reasonable and excellent value for money. Easy to get to and plenty of parking spaces. 10/10.
Pat Melling
3 years agoWe have always loved a good market, Leigh is still good but is dwindling a bit as probably stall rents are being hiked up. Nothing better than fresh meat from a butcher and fresh veg and fruit.
Mo E
3 years agoIndoors. Plenty of variety and quality goods. Easy and plentiful parking. Places to eat and flat so easy for wheelchairs and scooters. Public toilets and nice people.
Marion Hopper
3 years agoLove Leigh Market. The stall holders are friendly and helpful. It has something for everyone and is great value for money. The staff at Julie's perfumes in particular, are always lovely and helpful. And the gentleman on the handbag stall has gone above and beyond to find a particular handbag for me - thank you so much.
Sally
3 years agoWent to the cafe for lunch. Plenty of seats when we went, but it does get busy around lunch time. Food is excellent and the prices are god too. The market itself is OK, good prices on most stalls, but we don't tend to shop when we are here, we just come for the cafe.
Mike Halliday
3 years agoI can only give this place 4 out of of five stars because he used to be a buzzing place there are still very good proprietors as me and my mother always know quality Food beef meat and fish has any normal market would do but I would say there are a cut Above the rest
Shammy Evans
3 years agoIt's extremely welcoming atmosphere in the Leigh market, with good quality food for amazingly low prices. Definitely worth the visit and easy parking or going by bus. Bus Station is just few yards walking to Leigh market. On my visit I went via bus and notice around bus station was reasonably clean and tidy, could do with some weed killer on public paths and crubs but then again with most town's and city's, all Borough Council's have to watch thire penny's and is not always financially possible to get someone to deal with all the weeds that grow around the paths and curb area's in are town's and city's. Sorry I lost for a minute were I was. Ha! Anyway overall Leigh good town to visit but could do with few more known retailers in the town. But it's the market that's worth a visit. Thanks Leigh Market making my visit pleasurable.
Gaz Best
3 years agoStill a great little market, great variety of stalls. Most of the stalls were open, a few empty ones but much better than Wigan Markets occupancy stats for the past at least 10 years! Not been to Leigh Market for years as not been in the area again till now. Will defo be going back there now that I have sussed out where I can park reasonably close (I need to park close by as I can't walk very far from the car but I don't have a blue badge) for free on my lunch break to nip in.
Sharon Sargent
4 years agoVery very spacious and clean, better than the Ashton Under Lyne market. Easy to out and inside too, but few shops already been closed down.
Asif Ahmad
4 years agoBrilliant market I go at least three times a week always a bargain to be found from fresh meat fish fruit and veg to cooked chickens from two chicken stalls plus much more well worth a visit
mark knowles
4 years agoGreat little indoor Market. Nipped in here after having an appointment locally. Must be 5 years since my last visit and has not changed much. Lots of local foods, and all stalls clean and well laid out. My marker of a good shopping area is how many items you come out with that you never went in to buy. In this case handfulls - from local potatoes to a chicken. 5 star. Pop in if you're going past. Loads of parking (not free though) but cheap enough. Recommended.
David Jolley
4 years agoI do love this market. Good selection of stalls. The meat and veg stalls always have bang in fresh produce. Only stall I've not had anything from is the fish stall. No one ever there to serve! The bread/pie stalls are excellent and value for money
Karen Quinn
4 years agoA good little indoor market with plenty of variety for the size. Ideally situated between the main shopping streets of Leigh, indoor shops and Tesco's, which offers plenty of parking but difficult to get out of at times like Xmas as only one exit.
Teresa Aimson
4 years agoFirst time here, will come again, got an atmosphere warm and friendly , plus real honest people going about their business, definitely up north.
Robert Wilson
4 years agoGreat stalls right through, a few up for rent tho, stallholders are lovely, always get a smile as I walk through from many. Great way to shop local and with cheap parking right next door, what's not to love?
Cally Raven
4 years agoI found this market very useful. You can find most things you might need in your everyday life. Most things are cheaper and /or you can't buy them in the supermarkets. If I have the time, I am always happy to go there even just for a bit of browsing the stalls (I know it is annoying to the stallholders, but I can't buy everything all the time ?)
Zoltán Lange
4 years agoLovely little indoor market. Lots of different food stalls to choose from, veg, meat, butties, cafe and gremlins dvd and game stall. Perfect.
Caroline Bennett
4 years agoLove leigh market the atmosphere the people the stalls its so close to the indoor arcade too just a pity B&M not there any more but farm foods a great shop

4 years ago***JUICY JACKETS *** ? ? hot & fresh jacket potatoes & stone-baked pizza/ garlic bread !! Made while you wait! Or place an order and pick up for your dinner. Reasonable prices and amount of food, they put a good amount of toppings on and you can have whatever salad you like free! Cute little business situated near home bargains (Thursday till Saturday) and the jackets are amazing from this oven. You can’t beat that homemade garlic butter on The jackets or garlic bread and if you like a little kick the chilli cheese garlic bread is delicious ??
Becki
4 years agoGreat place with a good variety of stalls too. Good prices too. Friendly staff.
Damian Dobosz
5 years agoI have said this before the best value for price and quality for sausages, beef you will not beat the Fishman. It is a pity BM has gone but this market takes some beating, but I wish they would sort out the background music. I wonder however, who is the planner who has decided to reduce the parking capacity.
Harold Tudge
5 years agoIt's a good size and with a great variety of items. Foods, clothing, ornaments, cards, and lots more. There's a huge carpark a very short walk away, and the bus station, so it's accessible for everyone. As it's linked to a shopping centre there's that to check out too, along with a generous choice of coffee shops and cafes. It's nice.
Graham Phillips
5 years agoHas a decent amount of stalls with a diverse range of consumer goods. Also has 2 cafés if you fancy a cuppa, sandwich or even a full meal. The fresh flowers stall is a must for cut flowers that last a long time or even some outdoor plants. There is ample parking available on Spinning gate although this is pay and display.
Nicola Nicholson
5 years agoLeigh Market retains some of the traditional feel of a local market with a good range of stalls and a good social feeling illustrated by the groups of locals seen talking or eating together at the cafes, it's also very close to the bus station making it easily accessible
Paul Blackmore
5 years agoFruit and veg always fresh. Great staff. Market Hall needs sprucing up though..
Elaine Fletcher
5 years agoLoads of stores. Could do with a link of paint but very charming place to visit. The fishman butchers are amazing and the quality is exceptional
Michael Widdas
5 years agoGreat quality, local produce and a wide range of goods on offer from hardware, fruit, veg, local meat, dairy. There is a large make up stall selling top quality, known products at excellent prices. Stall holders are very friendly and helpful.

5 years agothis used to be a great market where you could buy anything. The food stalls are good to use instead of having to go to the supermarket.
