Impossible to get an appointment. Pointless calling them as the receptionist just tells you to call the out of hours doctor, that's after she's asked you personal medical questions for absolutely no reason. I've put a request in on SSP health several times just to be sent a txt saying "call out of hours doctor" so I called and was told to go to some surgery near Manchester within the next 3 hours! Considering I called with a foot injury and told them I can't walk. I ended up going to A&E where they agreed that Leigh family practice and SSP health is a joke.

Run out of medication multiple times even though I put my prescription request in days before I ran out, so I go to the reception to ask them if they can ask a doctor to put my prescription through but they say they can't do that really you can't knock on the doctors door give me details to the doctor to put prescription through, it will literally take 2 min. And it's not like they are busy every single time I've gone to the reception there is know one waiting to see a doctor and you can never get an appointment. Just doesn't make sense they are seeing hardly anyone yet you can't get an appointment when you ring up or try to book through my GP and the receptionists can't knock on a doctors door and ask to put a prescription through. I'm moving gp's now as they are absolutely useless

So disappointed I have been with this practice many years I’ve had minor issues before but now wow, terrible just terrible! Lack of communication is appalling I have requested multiple medications that’s are high dosed and have been late to getting them because they have not issued the medication. I have rag to confirm it several times to be told it will be issued tomorrow Everyday. Then when called on the last day of taking the medications I’m told I need to see the gp for a review three days after my time frame of taking said medication. This has happened on three occasions not to mention when you call to speak to whom every is in charge you left on hold for ages to be told they’re not available, I have sent in an email to talk to someone about my situation because as stated this is not the first time occurrence and you guessed it no response. The lack of respect for people’s care is beyond okay. They pop you on these drugs like nothing to then mess you around when you need them. I can no longer trust this practice my lack of confidence in my gp is sad you should be able to trust that they have your best interest but right now I feel judged and like I’m being treated like just some information behind a screen they’re judging. Asked for my referral to other departments and I’ve heard no response. Just to add I have been in 8 times once a week for 8 weeks to be shrugged at and told I’m fine 3 different antibiotics no difference in symptoms still looked at like I’m medication seeking or crazy. It’s not appropriate and most certainly not okay. I feel sorry for those who don’t have a a voice to speak up of this is also happening to them it’s very frightening.

I first joined Leigh Family Practice when I moved here to live with my partner (he was also registered with them). In the time between May and now they: delayed my care, submitted a right to choice referral without my knowledge for something I didn't need, didn't action a referral, and lost an urgent referral by sending it to the wrong place. Also, on matters of a medically urgent nature (my partner was suicidal), they offered me an appointment to take place a month later - good job 😏. Don't expect to get a same day appointment with a doctor though, you'll first have to go through triage with a health care professional who act like they do stuff, but actually don't. I have now moved practice and shall not be returning.

My experience with this surgery, is the receptionist (TINA) was unwelcoming and rude made my daughter and I felt uncomfortable and to top it off was very pleasant to other patients when they come, and with a smile and now have my 10 year old asking where she didn't greet us like that the 3 time went to her and now considering a change GP. As a new patient and my first not good. And now am thinking if all staff members will treat us like that although nurse was nice am still very concerned

Went to see the physiotherapist at Leigh Family Practice because of my back pain, every single doctor I had seen earlier about it mentioned that I have problems with posture and hence the back pain, this is quite obvious for anyone when they see my back. But ironically the physiotherapist that I saw mentioned my back was normal, which made me to suspect whether he is actually a proper physiotherapist. After a blood test later, as everything was normal with bloods he said he will refer me to physiotherapy for treatment, and for me to expect a letter. 2 months passed still no letter, phoned the GP back, and then they mentioned that I had to refer myself to physiotherapy, which was a shock to me, and no referral as such was done. Absolutely terrible care for the patients! Do yourself a favour and go to another GP. Wasted my time completely

Having spoken to a receptionist on Monday, I explained that I needed an urgent INR test to support emergency dental treatment. The following day, I attended the medical centre. The nurse took blood to be sent off to the Infirmary for analysis. The result being due Thursday afternoon. As a consequence I will likely lose the emergency treatment, it will be reset to Thursday or Friday

They said they would let me come to gp before giving me medicine. But when I came, they said I didn't have flu medicine. They said my medicine was just for depression. Nobody seems to care at this surgery. Very unhelpful staff on phone and front desk. Can never get an appointment in the actual surgery, sent to different surgeries throughout Leigh. Website is useless and generic. Made a verbal complaint on 18.11.24 and was never contacted although I was assured it would be escalated. Wouldn’t recommend. I’ve now moved surgeries and things are a lot better.

They just don't seem to care. We will be changing gp. Your staff on phone are nothing but rude to my wife when she tries to book an appointment or get a repeat prescription which should auto repeat but doesn't. Shes been advidsed to use nhs app which doesnt work then tokd to use a spp doctors surgery app which also doesnt work as wont send her a code. You tell her to go into wigan road doctors as she cant get to Bridgewater, but wigan well theyre shut thur fri sat sun , she's in pain and needs her brown inhaler and buscopan and an earlier doctors appoinment than the 11th oct but you won't do anything to help. it's an asthma pump its very important yet you care not didbt even ask what she needed perscription wise on phone this is twice you have done this to her . Been fighting to be checked for polysistic overies for 2years she has been in alot of pain for a long time. Also whike complaining , 1 doctor via your GP told my wife she didnt have asthma without even checking her chest, when we had an argue with her she checked her chest and gave her a higher dose asthma pump as her chest had indeed got worse. Disgusting tbh please start helping people instead of causing mental breakdowns because of the way you treat people. Start being kind. Ps leigh family practice is not the Bridgewater one but the Bridgewater 1 have responsibility as they also answer their phones to.

It can be quiet when you turn up and by the time you get seen to, it can be packed. I'm in here half the time with a toddler and a newborn. I don't want to have to wait over 25 minutes to have the appointment because by then my toddler is bored and is messing around. The doctors/ nurses you see are great though, can't fault them.

I strongly advise against visiting this doctor's surgery; it's the most disappointing experience I've ever encountered. The receptionists are utterly incompetent and unfit for any job, let alone one in the healthcare sector. This practice urgently requires investigation as it epitomises everything wrong with both our society and the NHS. I fear it's only a matter of time before someone's life is endangered due to the receptionists' negligence in handling medical matters. When inevitably scrutinised, they'll likely escape consequence and continue as before. Their treatment of people, particularly children, is appalling. They exhibit zero empathy and seem to schedule appointments months in advance to avoid addressing urgent medical needs, especially concerning children. The receptionists treat your health with complete disregard, brushing off complaints and evading any attempts to escalate issues to management.

I've always been very impressed with Leigh Family Practice. Getting an appointment hasn't seemed to be impossible, though I usually do go down to reception which I appreciate isn't possible for everyone. The staff have always been polite and efficient, putting up with my questions, often of a technical barrier when I am how the finger pulse and SpO2 monitor works. My skin cancer was diagnosed quickly and attended to at Leigh Hospital, and my ear check, called out at my partner's prompting, resulted in my getting heating aids within a month. All in all, a very positive experience.

What a joke of a Doctors surgery this is, how can a Doctors surgery have zero appointment for you to see a Doctor, next available appointment is March 4weeks away its pathetic no wonder A+E are over run with ppl who don't need to be there, it's because GP's since covid don't seem to bother anymore, receptionist is a joke wouldn't even listen to symptoms and try to help just said phone GP alliance nothing I can do which is pathetic, this will also go in an email to the CQC who funnily enough hasn't rated this surgery since 2019 according to Leigh Family Practice website

If I could give them zero stars I would. I wouldn’t even recommend my worst enemy signing up to this doctors. I have never known a doctors this bad in my life, don’t know how they haven’t gone out of business and don’t get me started about them receptionists, no customer service skills at all. Wouldn’t even known good customer service skills if it slapped them across the face. If I wrote all the negatives about this doctors down I’d be here all day. Just don’t waste your time or energy signing up to this doctors cause it’s truly not worth it, even if your on deaths door.

Extremely difficult to get an appointment and when you do it is a locum doctor who knows nothing of your history. It is the beginning of June and the next pre bookable appointment is the 20th July! They are advertising they are taking on new patients when they can't accommodate the ones they already have. I filed a complaint months ago about the appointment system and no one has bothered to contact me. Some, not all of the receptionists think they run the place. Never no appointments on the apps either. This will probably be deleted and nothing will get done as usual.

Struggled to get an appointment to see a doctor or clinician by phone or in person for my 84 yr old mum and remembered the practice have a care co-ordinator team, which I only found out about by accident when I was last in the surgery. Been with this doctors for a few years and today I saw advanced practitioner Sarah shipton (think that’s how her surname is spelt) and she is amazing. I have never felt so comfortable with a gp, my issues were listened to, she really helped me and I left knowing my gp genuinely cares about me, I really hope I continue to see Sarah in the future, my trust in leigh family practice has been restored. Thankyou Sarah for being a caring & reliable GP. I didn’t feel rushed, I didn’t feel fobbed off, I felt heard and cared about and Sarah should be an example for other gp’s out there.

Good Afternoon I have just recently visited this Gp surgery practice and I have to say I have been one of your patients for a very long time and I can say I was very disappointed with the practice, I know things have been hard of late, but couldn't even get a prescription for an ear infection a weeks course of cheep antibiotics to treat my infection, only to be told I had to see the gp so I said okay when is the next available appointment only to be told in three days time so anything after wensday the 20th July 2022, like I said what is going on here awfull service so if I have a perforated ear drum I will be putting in a malpractice against this surgery, for damages and pain and discomfort and loss of hearing. This practice needs to do better for their patients and not fog you off to the walk in center what a disappointment.

This 5 star rating was an easy decision for me. This is because, I have complex needs and sometimes I struggle to get to a face to face appointment. But the reception staff are absolutely amazing. They always help me in whatever situation I find my self in. These people include of..... Debbie, Sam, Beth, Andreia, Patience. Also anyone I haven't mentioned. I can't thank these extremely professional people. I can't fault them in anyway. They always manage to make my day and make me laugh. I can't tell you how refreshing it is to make a call knowing that you will get a warm reception. Guys your all fantastic, never change , in my eyes , these people had my back with empathy, to my needs. Please remember these amazing professionals got us through the worst few years we all suffered, but still they greet you a lovely greeting. And those people out there who complain need to stop with the 1 star ? reviews and just think about what they have been through and still carried on being the same beautiful, and professional as they are. I have been a patient with this practice for many years and choose to travel a longer distance rather than to change my doctor. Staff will always do thier very best to help and the practice is efficient and approachable, whilst maintaining a professional attitude. Many thanks for all you do ?.

Overall I am pleased with all aspects of this practice. Seen by the nurse who supported me 100%. Every stage was clearly explained I was very comfortable and happy with my treatments.

Awful practice. Numerous times my antidepressants have been late even though requested the required way 3 day prior. Their response too many doctors on holiday ring 111. Reception staff shut you down. Except 1 I don't know her name very rare you get hold of her but she goes out of her way to help you. When you finally get an appointment the doctor doesn't seem interested just as if your a inconvenience. Very very poor practice in all aspects

I've never been treated as well at reception at Leigh Family Practice as I was today. I was very fortunate to be dealt with by Sarah Fox who was courteous, efficient, polite and sorted all the problems that I presented her with alacrity and a very pleasant attitude. This encounter has encouraged me to think that better times might just be arriving at LFP after many years of inefficiency and disinterest. I sincerely hope for a better future association.

Wouldn't even give 1 star in all honesty worst practice I've ever been with, moved to leigh and swapped from my doc in wigan to leigh family practice and what a joke, everything is done online and takes 48 to 72 hours to process then your phone app will be a further 2 days later at any time in the day so that's 5 working days later, then if need a face to face app, they tell you reception will ring you back the next day to book,rang them 3 days later as had no call to be told I will get call today this went on for over a week then was told as it had been too long I needed to do the process again, this happened 3 times!! Also waiting 5 days for a phonecall isn't really suitable when having young kids I don't know 5 days in advance if gonna be ill, I know it's tough times atm but it is really bad, I moved doctors and have never had this problem since! Do not recommend any doctor surgery owned by ssp as this is how they all work my mum currently trying move from 1 in atherton as her is ssp and exactly same, if you ring up all reception ever say is it needs be done online, we don't do anything over phone anymore sorry!! What if you don't have Internet or a phone thatconnects to Internet?? Not everyone uses technology or understands it?! Like my mum! I had to always do it, she use get so stressed and upset!

Trying to get through by phone and online. The phone cuts off when I get to the top of the queue. I can’t log into the online system because I don’t have a password, I have to get one by telephoning the surgery, but I get cut off when I get to the front of the queue. Yery frustrating. I will be going round in person if this carries on. I’ve been trying to get through for over an hour. No wonder A&E are overwhelmed.

For the 3rd time in the last few months I have submitted an online form to be contacted by the doctor for a medical issue. It states online that you will be contacted within 2 working days but yet again 4 days later and still no contact at all from the surgery. Getting any appointments over the phone is worthless and requesting repeat prescriptions usually end up wrong or prescriptions just don’t get sent to the pharmacy. I’ve had one specific medical issue for over 8 years and this ‘surgery’ has been prescribing me hundreds of pounds of different medications over the years with hardly any proper diagnosis which didn’t get close to helping me to only find that an £6 over the counter common medication has helped me more than any doctor here has.

I have tried to contact the surgery for an appointment, i was on hold and went from 3rd in the queue to 8th. I finally got through and was told to make my appointment online. After telling receptionist 6 times that I did not have access to the internet they told me there was nothing they could do and just go on the link when I could and I have been left with no appointment no assistance and no guidance. Absolutely disgusting when you are concerned about a problem!

Good luck trying to get a face to face appointment here. We have been struggling to get a referral into the memory clinic for a family member with dementia and significant health issues for months. After several promises of referrals that never materialised we finally managed to get a face to face appointment today. Only to then receive a text to say the GP is ill your appointment is cancelled and we will be in touch when we can reschedule, but we can't tell you when that is. Attempting to hold down a full time job in the NHS and look after a family member with dementia simply isn't possible without help. The health service is on its knees and GPs are working from home with one GP covering face to face appointments at this practice. If they can't make it then the days appointments are cancelled. It's no wonder the country is up in arms about the GP situation, it is of your own making. You should be ashamed of the service you are providing to your community.

NHS 111 advised I get an oxygen metre from my GP practice so I can monitor my own health from home due to me having covid. I explained that it is impossible to even get a telephone appointment & that I wouldn’t get one. I was proved right. Sure enough bang on 8am I began trying to ring this surgery. For 10 minutes it leapt from being engaged to call ending. After 30 minutes & 89 attempts I got through, only to be told that you need to book a telephone appointment 5 days in advance & their all booked up. Breathing isn’t so bad that I need admitting yet but heart rate is sky high & if I had the tools to hand to look after my own health from home, it would help both the NHS & myself.

1 Star is too much. It's not one person, or incident, it's just the worse practice around. All the other reviews here explain somewhat of the issues. Since covid you cant even see a doctor. I've given up trying!

So since the beginning of this year the doctors have been ringing me to make appointments for various things so yes rang back put on hold for 30 mins plus each time no problems booked my appointments so then they would ring or text back and tell me its been cancelled so when I ring to make another numerous appointments they tell me I have to wait until they are available so I ring and book the appointments again ringing to cancel I've had this now 5 times this has been going on too long I did have the practice manger ring to apologise because they sent me to an appointment in a different surgery and guess what the nurse was on annual leave the receptionists need a course in customer care the doctors are not much either no care for anyone currently in the process of moving doctors would Not recommend I wouldn't even give it 1 star but you have to

Shambolic is the best way to describe this practice. The receptionists are the most rude I have ever come across. The prescriptions are never ready when they should be. Trying to get through on the telephone is just an absolute joke. Avoid at all costs. (The only good thing about this practice is Dr. Corkindale, she is amazing when you can get to see her). Have now moved to The Avenue surgery at Leigh Infirmary and the difference is just unbelievable, they are so professional and helpful.
