I thought it was about time I visited Bradshawgate Cafe and Bar and decided to visit around lunchtime on a Monday.
The cafe / bar is spread over two floors via what some people might say are a steep set of stairs that you have to negotiate to use the bathroom. They also have a few tables and chairs outside on Bradshawgate.
I was greeted with a warm welcome upon entering and found a table to peruse the menu.
Downstairs was very clean and tidy.
You have to order your food and drinks at the bar. Something I was not told when I entered, and as a result, I sat at my table for about 10 minutes, expecting someone to take my order.
My Cappuccino was good, and my Mixed Veg Toastie was fine. No serviettes with the food or on the table, though.
My bill came to a total of £5.00. It's probably the cheapest place in Leigh, not the best quality wise. However, for £5 you can't really complain.
Upstairs, there are two pool tables.
The bannister rails upstairs are white and look used (paint worn and dirty) and, as a result, in my opinion, gives the impression the place is not clean. A touch of paint would make it look so much cleaner.
A nice little cafe with a reasonable menu at cheap prices and friendly service.

1 year agoI love this new place we come alot. The food is so good fresh and good produce. The burgers are AMAZING. Definitely recommend this place for breakfast lunch and tea time. Friendly staff and good atmosphere with music and a lovely new bar. The cappuccinos are so good 👍 pool tables upstairs and lovely lightening and music 💯👍👌👌👌👌

1 year agoStopped in for a beer and a coffee. The coffee was top quality and a cappuccino for only £2 is a good deal. Pints was good and nice music playing. Upstairs there is two good quality pool tables and more seating.

1 year agoFirst visited the NEW Bradshawgate Cafe & Bar on Tuesday 22/10 and I think I’ve found my new local!
The owners are super friendly and lovely and are so willing listen to the locals with regards to what they want for their town.
I really do think this is going to be the making for our Town Centre!!

1 year agoThis is probably the first review of 'the new Bradshawgate Cafe and Bar'. Yes - you read that right - Cafe AND Bar! This is the first licensed premises on Bradshawgate for 18 years!!! The owner ( very nice friendly guy) has taken over the old Bradshawgate Cafe and turned it into a day into night venue serving food, tea coffee etc.and a good range of draught beers and wines. They also serve cocktails. He is hoping soon to have tables and chairs outside so that people can enjoy a drink in the open air. We just had a coffee and toast. It was fine - it's very early days and the staff are still learning the ropes. The decor is nice and it's comfortable and relaxing. We have promised to go back one evening soon for a drink. I believe this is just the kind of business we need to bring some life and vibrancy back to Bradshawgate and the owner is very brave to take the risk and be the first to stride out with such a venture. I really hope the decent people of Leigh will support him so that other business people are encouraged to follow suit and restore some life and pride to our town.

4 years agoMy wife and I have eaten at this establishment on many occasions over the past few years and found it to be on par with most greasy spoon cafes. It’s nothing special. The prices are reasonable, and the food is what you expect from a greasy-spoon café. Unfortunately, this joint has gone down hill since the pandemic. On our last two visits (August 2021)we were both disappointed with the brews and the breakfasts that we’d ordered. The brews were both piss week and cold; the bacon was overcooked and dry plus the eggs looked like a filthy fridge magnets due to the dirty cooking oil coupled with being nuked.
Although we decided to dismiss our experience on the second to last visit, we could not do the same on our last (and final) visit. Unfortunately, we had an even worse experience on this occasion. We had again received lukewarm and week brews inclusive of a spoon left in the mug. Why… I don’t know, as neither of us take sugar and there was nothing to stir. Anyway, on this occasion, I asked if the egg can be replaced given that it was not runny. The replacement egg was equally as nuked as the first and the saucer that it came on was dripping in dirty fat. We didn’t eat the egg or the fossilised bacon.
As we sat pondering on whether to complain I happened to glance down at the floor and noticed numerous dead fly’s all within 5 feet or so of where we were eating. This prompted me to have a proper look around and the tables had clearly not been wiped for some considerable time. As for the floor… this looked like it hadn’t been moped since prior to the pandemic. It was filthy. Dust, dead fly’s, bits of paper everywhere.
My wife was very disturbed by the dead fly’s and lack of hygiene standards and swiftly headed to the toilet to wash her hands before promptly leaving. OMG! The toilets were equally as horrendous. There wasn’t any toilet tissue, hand sanitiser/soap or hand towels. They are run-down and disgusting.
Also, as for the images of lovely, clean-cooked food that have previously been left by alleged customers… well, I suspect that this is false information and strategically placed by the café owners or associates. If you look carefully, you can clearly see that the background is the same on every picture, plus if a customer had taken these images, there would be other items in the frame i.e., brews, cutlery, table, chairs and other people etc.

5 years agoGood food, usually very busy. Friendly staff. Is accessible, has a toilet but that is up à flight of stairs so only useful for able bodied. This cafe sometimes has an outdoor eating area which I think some prefer due to the recent pandemic. The tables are disinfected after each use and there are hand sanitiser stations.

6 years agoJust been whilst out shopping. Had their full English breakfast which was superb. Nice place n staff. However we hated their bell that chimes DEAD LOUD whenever anyone opens the door lol . Please fix that. Fantastic cafe!!!
