I had a frustrating and distressing experience with Anytime Fitness Leigh.
After placing my membership on hold and later receiving a written confirmation from the manager that my account was closed with no payments outstanding, I was still bombarded with payment reminders and debt notices for several months. This was incredibly stressful and inappropriate, especially given the matter had been resolved.
Despite providing evidence multiple times, the gym failed to stop these communications — and the issue was eventually passed to a debt collection agency, without justification.
I feel let down by the poor internal communication and lack of accountability. I would strongly advise future members to keep all correspondence in writing, and be prepared to escalate issues externally if necessary.
Still awaiting a proper apology and resolution from head office.

2 years agoVery good 24-hour gym. Not overly lit or pounding with excessively loud music. Clean and well-equipped. Individual changing rooms if required.

2 years agoNot a good gym, too small and not a lot of equipment. Cancelled after 12mths. Have to give a month's notice, but they stop your fob from working so you can't enter until you've resigned a contract. Total joke as not signing a new contract, just cancelling my membership. So you pay a month's fee and cannot access the gym. Don't waste your money, just find a decent gym.

I cancelled my membership due to moving over 9 months ago and I was told I had to pay for 6 months and provide proof of moving (personal information) just to cancel, why they still didn’t do!
I have just been charged £24 late fee as I cancelled the direct debit as I kept getting changed, only to get a rude lady on the phone demanding I pay the 2 months missed £56 then the £24 late fee without any help offered.
I will never use this gym again!! (Oh wait I haven’t for over 12 months!!)
Please be careful when signing up with a contract with this buisness as you can easily get stung.
Ps don’t worry the money has been paid! Just make sure this time you actually cancel the
memebership.

3 years agoI'll start with the things that need improving. The place is a bit on the small side and not enough dumbbells. Also, I've spoken to one of the managers (more than a month ago) about some massive chunks of fiber glass insulation that were left on top of the room where fitness sessions are being held and nothing has been done about it. Surely, fiber glass abandoned in the open is not what you want to have around you especially whilst exercising; breathing heavily. I don't know about you but I like my lungs. Another aspect that needs improving if their fob-entry system. It's too slow. You just want to scan your fob and get in not faf about outside the entrance in the cold. Some positives: Atmosphere is good and I noticed a minimum of weights slamming. I like doing pull ups so I was happy to see that there were quite a few pull up bars. Parking is free and there is a Tesco right next to it. Overall, this little gym has potential but things need improving in order to compete against other similar gyms.

4 years agoWas a great gym to start, clean, friendly, though quite busy at times and not enough space or equipment (for the price you pay can be frustrating)
Though when it comes to cancelling, I've now been charge 4 months membership in 'arrears' though not having access to the gym for those 4 months. Still hounding me for money.

4 years agoOpen 24/7 so can work out whenever you feel like it, very clean gym lovely staff, just don't feel comfortable in the weights section, a lot of regular users tend to give people a weird stare at you if you're not buffed up trying to better yourself without the use of steroids.

5 years agoAnytime Fitness in Leigh is honestly quite over priced for what it is. The gym as a whole is small and given that the company currently ask over £300 a year for membership I really do not think it is worth the price.
The quality of equipment available in the gym is good and everything is clean and tidy but it's no better in terms of quality and presentability than PureGym or The Gym which are significantly cheaper while still offering 24 hour access.
